The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Professional Services Security, Risk and Compliance (SRC) team is a paid consulting organization that works with our largest enterprise customers in various industries to achieve their business outcomes securely and faster in the cloud. Through project-based support, our security consultants work with our customers on innovative solutions that promote cloud technology for the purpose of solving customer business problems faster and for long-term business expansion.

The AWS Professional Services SRC team is seeking a Principal Security Consultant who can serve as technical security leader, and senior Cyber Security expert, within the fast-growing Professional Services team in Japan. The Principal Security Consultant will guide ProServe delivery through scalable solutions around Cyber Security and governance for our a diverse Enterprise customer use cases. The Principal Security Consultant will also support development of security-focused go-to-market strategy and the professional development of AWS Security, Risk and Compliance (SRC) consultants supporting Japan based customers.

As a Principal Security Consultant, you have 10+ years of consulting, technology management, or services operations experience in the field of Cyber Security and excellent leadership experience. You have a good understanding of the Japanese IT and Security landscape and possess skill in developing enterprise Cyber Security strategies. You’ve been hands-on as a software developer, system administrator, network engineer, or systems architect but have also taught, managed, and mentored other IT and Cyber Security professionals. You have an excellent technical understanding of Cloud and IT systems. You have a well-rounded vision and strategy for improving enterprise cyber security effectiveness through the advantages of commercial cloud, zero-trust architectures, secure software development practices, and application of advanced technologies.

This role requires effective verbal and written communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work backwards from ambiguous requirements to distill vast amounts of information into clear, concise communications. The right candidate is data-driven, comfortable working effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, and is adaptable managing priorities and working effectively across a number of internal stakeholders. This role involves frequent engagement with both senior customers and AWS leadership and requires a candidate with effective executive presence, excellent interpersonal skills, and an ability to influence others.

• Build the strategic plan for delivery of security consulting and offerings across Professional Services customers in different industries.

• Support strategic Professional Services customers through leading engagements as a principal consultant with focus on security-related governance, system authorization, security assessments, and security engineering

• Build executive level relationships with customer leadership to advocate for AWS security and compliance methodologies

• Drive innovative solutions and lead programs to solve enterprise / industry security issues as a whole.

• Represent the AWS strategy for security to our internal and external stakeholders including the AWS sales teams as well as media coverage and industry events focused on the security segment

• Drive collaboration and integration between multiple AWS partners to deliver comprehensive solutions for our largest enterprise customers

• Work collaboratively inside of AWS to develop fellow SRC consultants within a technical field community to enhance professional development

• Work collaboratively with our product management, solution architect, and professional service teams to develop new solutions and offerings

Basic Qualifications

• Broad experience in enterprise governance, security, risk and compliance management

• Experience designing and delivering cloud security / infrastructure technology solutions to large Enterprises

• Experience managing executive customer relationships and key business stakeholders

• 2+ years of commercial cloud experience

• 10+ years of Cyber Security experience in roles specifically involving cyber operations, compliance and risk management, data privacy, security consulting or security architecture.

• Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to articulate a clear point of view on complicated issues in clear, concise communications

• Business level Japanese reading, document writing, and conversation skills with customers, partners, and colleagues including other departments.

• Conversational English skills to communicate with internal team

• This is a customer-facing role. When appropriate and safe, we will ask you to travel to client locations to deliver professional services when needed.

• Implementation experience with compliance frameworks such as NIST, PCI-DSS, ISO/IEC 27001, ISO/IEC 27017, FISC, etc.

• Knowledge or experience in Infrastructure as Code or Configuration Management technologies such as CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, etc.

• Strong scripting skills, i.e., PowerShell, Python, Node.js, Javascript, Bash, Ruby, Perl, etc.

• Proficiency in both Japanese and English written and verbal business communications
