Today, our network of drivers and delivery service providers is expanding rapidly, and to support this growth we are looking for a highly-skilled Program Manager to join our team in AMZL Japan.

This position is an opportunity in the Capacity Planning & Analytics team and will report to Senior Program Manager in Program Management organization. This is a core strategic position responsible for planning, executing and optimizing initiatives for AMZL to develop a best in class delivery network in the Japanese market. Specifically, we are responsible for end-to-end planning creation and execution of new capacity initiatives, as well as recommending solution to top management. Projects are mainly medium to large-scale and this role is expected to handle these projects from planning to completion while obtaining required support by stakeholders and team members. Hence, Project Management experience and ability to manage the project independently is required. Furthermore, post project completion KPI, metrics tracking and monitoring process development are necessary to ensure that the system is maintained in an optimal state. Since this position is a core position that supports AMZL's sustainable network, there are frequent analysis, decision-making, and proposal creation for approval processes. Hence, document creation ability and experience for High-level stakeholder engagement are also required.

Key job responsibilities

  • Plan and Execution of Project and Program Management for delivery service partner capacity

  • Propose and Develop mechanism, process and toolset for enabling robust operation to partners

  • Data analysis, Research and Documentation of our Last Mile delivery network development and present result to stakeholders and senior leadership

  • Build strong connection with stakeholders in other regions to share and develop best practices

  • Identify and evaluate potential risks/obstacles both internal and external business environment with limited guidance from supervisor

  • Propose mitigation action and recommend network capacity allocation to solve business problems

A day in the life

This role will monitor whether our network is robust, healthy and sustainable mid and long terms perspective. Furthermore, counteractions to strengthen our network are planned, proposed and executed with broader stakeholders by this role. You will spend time to analyze network status with geographic, partner-based, cycle and more in-depth data to develop initiatives for solving business issues and collaborate with cross-functional team by leveraging their expertise to proceed an execution.

You do NOT need a background in Logistics. You DO need the logical, rational thinking, skills to control complex projects with high judgement decisions, clear communication style, stakeholders’ management and ability to make recommendation required to convince a business partner and leadership that the strategy and action YOU are recommending is the right one. We recognize that the experience required for this role likely doesn't exist within traditional logistic companies, and we therefore welcome forward-thinking program managers, project managers and product managers from a wide variety of experiences and backgrounds to consider this role.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 3+ years of program or project management experience

  • 3+ years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience

  • 3+ years of defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics experience

  • Knowledge of Excel at an intermediate level (e.g., pivot tables & charts, multiple criteria lookups, nested logical/IF formulas, data cleansing, array formulas, etc.)

  • Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements

  • Business level of Japanese and English

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of program or project management experience

  • 3+ years of driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience

  • Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization

  • Master's degree in business, engineering, operations, supply chain, transportation logistics

  • Experience in complex problem solving, and working in a tight schedule environment

  • Excited about working in a diverse group and contributing to an inclusive culture
