The Senior Director, Customer Data Strategy, Partnerships and Innovation serves to proactively develop data as a strategic asset for the JNJ portfolio in the US. This leader develops the forward-looking vison, strategy, roadmap and execution for data as a competitive advantage for the JNJ portfolio in the US. This leader will serve to acquire new data sources, provide transparent access and visualization of these data sources, integrate the data sources into existing and new platforms and develop robust data governance to ensure appropriate use of these data and application of privacy, compliance and legal guidance. This role will serve all JNJ US Therapeutic areas and functions. The Senior Director, Customer Data Strategy, Partnerships and Innovation, reports to the Vice President of Customer Engagement and Digital Transformation.

The Senior Director, Customer Data Strategy, Partnerships and Innovation will shape how JNJ’s data is utilized by thousands of users across field and home office, for a wide variety of purposes ranging from analytics, insight generation, Sales Incentive compensation, business management/metrics reporting and compliance/privacy/governance. This leader will identify opportunities to drive topline revenue impact and bottom-line cost efficiencies and synergies through a future proof data strategy.

The Senior Director, Customer Data Strategy, Partnerships and Innovation will be responsible for a group of data-focused employees and a significant operating (direct and indirect) budget annually, supporting all therapeutic and functional areas. In addition, this leader and their team will be responsible for alignment with data teams across the enterprise via the JNJ Data Management Council.

The Senior Director, Customer Data Strategy, Partnerships and Innovation will leverage deep industry expertise, to identify and scale partnerships with new innovative partners and existing vendors. Further, this leader will drive internal partnerships with cross functional colleagues in JNJ Technology, Global Commercial Strategy Organization, Healthcare Compliance, Privacy, Legal and Risk Management.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

This position’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following and may be subject to change:

Lead the Customer Data Strategy, Partnerships and Innovation team by proactively acquiring, and implementing best in class data strategies and tactics. Provide in-depth data-related insight and advice to senior business leaders at Senior Director, VP, President and Company Group Chairman levels.

Influence and shape investments in novel and future-proof data sources, data products, aligned across business and functions. Ensure synergies and efficiencies in data acquisitions. Drive creation and capturing of value through data investments (i.e. return on data investments).

Establish, refine and lead cross functional (in conjunction with HCC/Privacy/Legal) governance processes for the utilization of data and data products in the US.

Build and grow a diverse team of experts with deep expertise and business acumen. Lead a team through coaching, inspiring and developing the talent in the growing capability area.

  • Build, maintain and leverage strong relationships with external partners including academic institutions, data vendors, platform vendors, and other key external stakeholders (e.g. industry associations)

  • Build, maintain and leverage strong relationships with Janssen and J&J teams including Cross-regional partners to ensure synergies and leverage of capabilities (e.g. syndicated data, integrated data platforms, customer data platforms, technology partners)

  • Influencing and partnering with JNJ Data Management Council

Qualifications

  • Education: B.S. required; MS/MBA/PhD preferred

  • At least 10 years of pharmaceutical industry required including experience with patient level, real world data and data platforms in a pharmaceutical commercial environment; and a minimum of 5 years of people management experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence in a large and matrixed organization required.

  • Experience to develop, communicate, advocate and execute a strategy required.

  • Proven experience in prioritizing and managing a complicated portfolio of projects required.

  • Proven experience managing relationships such as:

Strategic Partners (e.g. Consultants), Operational vendors (e.g. analytic vendors), Industry Associations (e.g. PMSA), Academic Institutions (e.g. Universities, Technical colleges etc.)

  • Domain Expertise:

Deep knowledge of digital data, analytic & technology products

Learn industry trends/domains and end user demands.

  • Agile/High Performing Teams:

Experience in managing a backlog/release plan, tracking tam level metrics, removing blockers.

  • Excellent communication and training skills required.

  • Travel 15%

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $163,000 to $282,900.

The compensation and benefits information set forth in this posting applies to candidates hired in the United States. Candidates hired outside the United States will be eligible for compensation and benefits in accordance with their local market.
