The Tax Accountant is responsible for the timely and accurate satisfaction of tax compliance obligations for the organization. This includes the preparation, review and filing of tax returns, resolving tax related issues, assisting with audits and providing guidance on the tax impact of new legislation and business strategies. This role also provides routine tax, finance, and accounting tasks, including the preparation, distribution, and storage of electronic and paper business documents and reports.

Key Responsibilities: · Prepares, reviews, and files tax obligations related to Federal, State and Local Income, Franchise, Property, and Sales/Use tax; reviews calculations prepared by outside tax consulting firms for returns and estimated payments. · Research and summarize various federal and state tax issues. · Communicates with outside tax consulting firms. · Collects and compiles tax related information; maintains tax records such as filings and supporting documents. · Keep an inventory list of all property tax invoices by jurisdiction, save a copy of the invoice and proof of payment to the shared drive; work with manager to ensure these are paid.

Competencies Required: · Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail. · Self-starter who uses time effectively and efficiently meeting required deadlines. · Ability to interact and communicate effectively with internal and external parties. · Solid analytical skills and the ability to make sound business judgment. · Solid technology abilities, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, tax preparation, and financial software applications. · Demonstrated ability to independently research, read, and interpret specialized tax regulations, technical reports, and legal documents. · Excellent knowledge pertaining to taxation laws, procedures, rules, and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications/Experience: · 1 or more years of experience in tax and/or accounting, OR a bachelor's degree in lieu of related work experience required.

Formal Education & Certification: · Bachelor’s Degree preferred. · Certified Public Accountant preferred.

Work Status: · Full-time.

Supervisory Responsibility: · None.

Travel: · 0 – 10% - Negligible amount of travel expected.

Working Conditions: · Conditions involve lifting no more than ten pounds, sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods, and occasionally lifting and carrying articles like, files, ledgers, folders, etc.
