Waste Connections HR Generalist in The Woodlands, Texas

We are currently seeking an HR Generalist to join our Southern Region office located in The Woodlands, TX. This office supports 4,400+ employees at locations in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Florida.

As the Region HR Generalist, you'll be a part of a 3 person HR team that provides guidance to leaders on complex employee relations matters. You will conduct fact findings investigations and through a consultative approach you will problem solve, influence resolution, and mitigate risk. Essential Duties:

  • Coach and support field leadership with employee performance management issues, including coaching conversations, investigations, and progressive discipline.

  • Advises and manages through complex Leave of Absence issues.

  • Assists with integrating newly acquired companies/employees.

  • Responds to internal and external inquiries regarding policies, procedures, programs, and other employee matters.

  • Analyze data to help drive results (such as turnover numbers, internal & external market data) and make recommendations to management based upon findings and best practices.

  • Report to and work directly with the Human Resources Manager

What You Have To Have:

  • A can-do, positive attitude and servant leadership qualities.

  • Minimum 4+ years of progressive experience in all Human Resources competencies.

  • Advanced knowledge of applicable state employment laws.

  • Advanced knowledge of Leave of Absence management and best practices.

  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality, even in high stress situations.

  • Ability to travel up to 40% often without advanced planning. This could involve overnight travel as well as day trips.

  • Self-driven project management skills and the ability to manage multiple matters while demonstrating sound judgment, decision making, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proven success in influencing and serving employees at all levels of the organization through collaboration and communication.

  • PHR/SPHR (SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) preferred. If currently not certified this will be a requirement.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Management or related field strongly preferred.

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish strongly preferred.
