The Supply Chain Resources at Union Health is looking for a Buyer team member for the Terre Haute campus.     Buyer Essential Job Duties:

  • Participates in the activities in the procurement of Hospital supplies, taking into consideration identified priorities of group purchase contracts, vendors, price, and need.

  • Consults with the System Director of Materials Management, Purchasing Manager, and the Storeroom Manager regarding activities of the department.

  • Assesses priorities regarding procurement activities.

  • Purchases designated or assigned materials, supplies, and equipment for health system accurately and timely.

  • Recognizes the importance of maintaining adequate stock levels for supplies that have been designated or assigned.

    Education, Training & Experience

  • Associate's degree in business or related field preferred.

  • Healthcare purchasing experience is preferred.

  • Basic accounting knowledge required.

  • Knowledge of computer inventory systems.

  • Health care operations experience also helpful.

  • Must meet and deal successfully with a wide variety of people.

  • Must be accomplished in written and verbal business communication.

  • Must have exceptional follow-up skills for all sales and business relationships.

  • Flexible in work schedule, as required.
