Citigroup Labor Relations Manager in São Paulo, Brazil

The Labor Relations Manager is accountable for the management of complex/critical/large Labor Relations Strategy in the franchise. Requires a comprehensive skill set that enables the relationship of multiple areas of the organization and how they interact in order to achieve the objectives of the function. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level and also on external communications when applicable.

Responsibilities:

  • Implements the organization's labor relations strategy to minimize the negative impact of individual employee grievances or collective labor disputes.

  • Liaises with managers, employees, and their representatives all levels to channel and develop strategies to maintain a productive and harmonious workplace.

  • Ensures all employer-employee relationships in the organization comply with collective agreements, individual employment contracts, regulations, laws, and the organization's employment policies and standards.

  • Analyzes and interpret bargaining trends and issues, as well as standards, regulations, and laws to understand their impact on the organization.

  • Represents management in negotiations and dispute resolution with employees, unions, employer bodies, government agencies, labor relations authorities, and other agencies to protect the organization's interests.

  • Provides consultancy and advice to different key stakeholders to ensure the proper management of employee labor relations issues.

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

  • May be assigned to lead and direct a team of professionals.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in employment law related items such as consultancy, implementation of labor relations strategies, collective bargaining and union management.

  • Experience on litigation is a plus.

  • Knowledge in activities of financial institutions located in Brazil.

Education:

  • Bachelors/University degree, Master’s degree preferred

  • Fluent English and Portuguese is required, Spanish is a plus.
