SUNY Upstate Medical University Student Assistant - IMT - Autonomous Machines in Syracuse, New York

Job Summary:

The primary responsibilities of a student assistant with the web applications team is to gather information, plan, design, develop, test and migrate web applications to be used by Human Resources, Payroll, Purchasing, IMT, campus and the hospital. They will work closely with a senior developer and the end-user to help organize and implement their plan. They will identify areas in existing code and applications where we can streamline the process and devise a plan to implement those changes. They will be responsible to identify areas of code that can be cleaned up and re-organized for legibility. They will also help to develop a plan for more refined documentation and a site-map process to better assist with tracking the application life cycle. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to provisioning authorization requests, writing error handling procedures, database migration plans and working with junior and senior-level developers to plan a site-wide rewrite.

Minimum Qualifications:

Students are limited to a maximum of 29 hours per week and must be a matriculated undergraduate or graduate college student. Current coursework should be in Computer Information Systems, Computer science or similar with the desire to start their professional career in Information Technology.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with web-based programming languages and web services. Some of the languages and frameworks that we currently utilize are html5, css, javascript, ColdFusion, .NET, C# and Blazor. Some of the libraries that we utilize are bootstrap 3 and 4, jqwidgets, jquery and Radzen. It is also preferred that the applicant is familiar with, and has worked with, relational database designs.
