Syracuse University Director of New Student & Transition Programs in Syracuse, New York
The Division of Student Experience seeks an experienced and innovative Director of New Student and Transition Programs, who will lead the university’s efforts to enhance the overall success and onboarding of Syracuse University students. The Director of New Student and Transition Programs is a strategic thinker responsible for the successful planning and implementation of the University’s new student orientation program as well as initiatives that support new student transition and development of sense of belonging. The Director will be responsible for collaborative work that advances the division’s goal of creating shared experiences that will inspire new students to connect, thrive, and engage across differences.
The Director will create, plan, and oversee the implementation of all orientation programs. The position will also coordinate student programming to address 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd year undergraduate student transitions. The director will work with other University departments to ensure continuity and synergy among all onboarding programs for new students.
The Director develops goals, objectives, vision, and provides strategic oversight for the organizational, managerial, fiduciary, assessment, and administrative functions of the office, including supervision of professional staff members. The Director demonstrates a commitment to justice, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility through program delivery and decision making. The goal is to ensure a seamless transition process for incoming students to Syracuse University. In collaboration with departments across campus, New Student Programs welcomes students to the community and connects them to resources, provides opportunities to find community among their peers, and equips students with tools to be successful throughout their time on campus and beyond.
