The Opportunity:

Department of Defence is undergoing an ambitious but achievable reform program for sustainment of the RAN’s surface fleet. Key to the new approach is the Maritime Sustainment Model (MSM) and its use of standardised contracts, plans, processes, guides, procedures, and ICT tools by its workforce and across the Maritime Enterprise. Development of this sovereign sustainment capability is key to ensuring Defence has the workforce, systems, tools, supply chains and infrastructure to support the future fleet and operations.

KBR is seeking an experienced Business Analyst to leverage their experience and knowledge of Defence/Maritime Sustainment practices to optimise the MSM Processes across the Maritime Sustainment Division (MSD) Enterprise.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply process excellence tools and techniques to understand, analyse, document and model, to recommend future processes and solutions in line with business needs.

  • Facilitate stakeholder engagements via workshops, interviews, focus groups, and using previously documented materials to establish accurate process workflows.

  • Scope process and analyse appropriately to identify core stakeholders, and associated benefits and risks related to Navy and Defence Systems.

  • Recommend effective process strategies for the business problem and/or new opportunities within the Maritime Domain.

  • Actively engage with stakeholders to ensure recommended solutions are in line with core business needs.

  • Ensure process strategies are aligned with the long-term business requirements of the systems program offices and Navy Logistics Information Systems.

  • Enhance business processes to drive process maturity through process re-engineering and continuous improvement.

  • Document and ensure that processes are consistently documented using a practical set of Business Process Model & Notation (BPMN) standards and process modelling tools.

  • Document processes following the team's Process Governance and Architecture practices defining business rules and templates.

  • High level and low-level design of process development using lean methodology and ensure that documentation of the future state process design adheres to the required governance and architecture practices.

    As the ideal candidate you will bring:

  • Experience and knowledge of Defence/Maritime Sustainment practices and processes (or other similar asset intensive industry)

  • Proven success in business analysis and operational process design using Holocentric or other/similar BPMN tools.

  • Current Defence Security Clearance – Baseline (or higher, or ability to obtain NV1)

  • Recent Defence Industry experience (within Maritime Domain is highly desirable), with deep understanding of through life support phases of ADF materiel management.

  • Demonstrated experience in application Lean, Six Sigma or CMMi

  • Experienced in the use of MS Office products, business process tools and complex applications.

  • Experience in creation of flow and logic diagrams.

  • Experience working in a Defence network/systems environment.
