Google Product Engineer, Servers and Storage Systems in Sunnyvale, California

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 8 years of experience as a Manufacturing, Quality, Reliability, or Product Engineer.

  • Experience in electrical devices, fabrication processes, Test, DFx, Quality, reliability.

  • Experience working with ODMs, Contract Manufacturers (CMs) and suppliers to manage root cause analysis, corrective actions and continuous process improvements.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.

  • 10 years of experience in a company developing supply chains (e.g., manufacturing and test) for networking type products for the IT industry.

  • Experience creating and executing a Design Validation Test Plan on an electronic assembly.

  • Experience with data analytics and quality data systems.

Google's custom-designed equipment makes up one of the largest and most powerful computing infrastructures in the world. The Manufacturing Operations team is responsible for providing the manufacturing capability to deliver this state-of-the-art physical infrastructure. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you evaluate the product designs and create the processes, tools and procedures behind Google’s powerful search technology. When vendors build parts for our infrastructure, you’re right there alongside ensuring manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled. You collaborate with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to determine Google’s infrastructure needs and product specifications. Your work ensures the various pieces of Google’s infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $134,000-$198,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Lead Design for Manufacturing efforts across teams to ensure server/storage designs, process, test, and quality standards are optimized for production.

  • Lead and guide subject matter experts to ensure the product meets our specifications.

  • Ensure manufacturing sites are prepared for product build ahead of time. Provide on-site support and lead defect correction efforts post build.

  • Work with the Product Quality Engineer to establish product quality and reliability goals. Validate product qualification plans, support product qualification testing and review product qualification test results to ensure product performance meets requirements.

  • Coordinate release of New Product Introduction (NPI) Bill of materials (BOM) into PDM system. Perform technical review of product changes and assess impact on supply chain.
