POSITION DISCRIPTION: Responsible for source selection and procurement functions directly associated with the company's needs for indirect materials, services, fixed assets and tooling, and selected production materials and services. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Initiates purchase orders and amendments for materials, services, fixed assets, tooling and selected production material and services. Prepare purchase orders or bid requests. Contact prospective suppliers and analyze quotations, negotiate prices and contract terms with suppliers, recommend suppliers with respect to cost, quality and delivery competitiveness. Interview prospective suppliers and/or confer with current suppliers to determine their abilities of meeting the company's supply and service needs/requirements. Monitor supplier shipments and/or service agreements to ensure timely delivery. Make appropriate logistic arrangements to expedite production supplies as necessary. Regularly communicate via e-mail, fax and telephone with vendors in resolving outstanding issues. May be required to visit supplier's facilities. Monitor supplies received. Reconcile product received to the purchase order and assist Accounts Payable in reconciling to the invoice. Work closely with suppliers to resolve issues and/or discrepancies. Interface and confer with other departments to obtain specific requirements for future purchases. Enter purchase order into software system. Develop and maintain an order tracking system. Monitor quality performance of vendor and work with vendor on corrective actions. Make Warranty claims and returns Contract Terms and Conditions Ensures the contractual document accurately reflects the terms and conditions or purchase, including payment terms, freight terms, incoterms, and other key commercial terms Prepares various reports, records and financial statements as requested. Other duties as assigned.
