Job Type: Full-time with travel and overtime

Experience: 3 years minimum

Reports to: Project Superintendent and Operations Manager, supervisory responsibility

Wage: $100,000+ per hour (based on experience and qualifications)

Job Summary:

The Portable Asphalt Plant Operator is responsible for safely operating and relocating portable asphalt plants while maintaining and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues. Experience diversity by working with different contractors and projects and traveling throughout Wyoming with our Asphalt Paving Division. Take ownership of your role by promoting a safe work environment and ensuring equipment and plant preventative maintenance is always performed timely, thoroughly, and correctly, maintaining courteous customer relations, and working with a team that feels like family.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate a portable asphalt plant.

  • Relocate asphalt plants for projects.

  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems.

  • Order and coordinate deliveries from material suppliers.

  • Give direction to employees under their supervision.

  • Promote a safe work environment while facilitating weekly safety meetings.

  • Ensure equipment and plant preventative maintenance is always performed timely, thoroughly, and correctly.

  • Team player mentality and eagerness to cross-train on topics such as dispatching, batching, mechanics, etc.

  • Willingness to perform duties outside the normal scope of work as this job description is non-exhaustive.

Position Requirements:

  • Consent to authorization of a pre-employment work screen, Motor Vehicle Record request, and drug test.

  • 3 years minimum related experience.

  • Experience using computerized systems for operations and load-out.

  • Basic knowledge of gradations, mix designs, and asphalt placement.

  • Mechanical background and skills.

  • Personal protective equipment is required.

  • Possess excellent communication skills and understand instructions in both written and verbal forms.

  • Dependability and reliability by showing up to scheduled shifts on time and being prepared for work.

  • A positive attitude is critical to ensure productive working relationships with co-workers and management.

  • Continuous exposure to weather elements including heat, cold, noise, dusty conditions, and working outdoors.

  • Overnight travel may occur during peak season.
