Product/Design Engineer

What is a Product/Design Engineer?

A Product/Design Engineer will execute Engineering work in support of (1) design, manufacture, and improvement of existing products, (2) development of new products, and (3) regulatory activities by using sound Design and Engineering practices.

 

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have a  Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and proficient with both 2D and 3D CAD systems. Basic knowledge and ability to apply engineering calculations, as well as analytical and product development tools (e.g. FMEA, DOE, tolerance stack-ups, Design for Six Sigma, Root Cause Corrective Action, etc.).

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  1. Able to clearly articulate our products' value and business benefits, as well as cover the technical details of our products.
  2. Assist in understanding customer needs and requirements through voice of customer activities to better qualify potential prospects for the Company.
  3. Coordinate effective, timely, and cost-effective responses -- application, technical, installation, and trouble-shooting -- to customers and inter-company departments. Field visits to handle product issues, as necessary.
  4. Support project management from concept through launch.
  5. Maintain basic knowledge of product line design; application of products to customer requirements.
  6. Utilize research data, proposed product specifications, and engineering principles to aid in the design of products, such as: fluid handling devices, valves, pressure vessels, equipment, machinery, and associated components and subsystems.
  7. Work with manufacturing, purchasing, and sales on selecting materials and processes.
  8. Develop bills of material, drawings, and documentation to include part numbers, design criteria, and assembly diagrams.
  9. Perform product verification prior to manufacturing release.
  10. Effectively convey information on new/updated products to involved parties.
  11. Maintain technical data on component parts, customer drawings, and specifications.
  12. Provide Operations support to resolve machining/assembly problems and ensure timely disposition of non-conforming hardware without compromising final product quality.
  13. Evaluate disposition of returned products (RMA's), document conclusions in clear/concise reports, and recommend corrective actions, as necessary.
  14. Collaborate with Supply Chain, Customer Service, and Quality teams to provide recommended product improvement changes that enhance aftermarket opportunities and drive cost-out initiatives.
  15. Support the Operations organization as required, including: identification/ implementation of site cost-out activities, and maintaining the quality assurance policy consistent with ISO standards.
  16. Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.

     

     

Required Experience and Education
