Required Qualifications: (as evidenced by an attached resume)
Doctoral Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Medical Physics, Biomedical Engineering or a closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD in medical applications of physical sciences and engineering. Experience in digital breast tomosynthesis, its performance evaluation, image reconstruction and processing. Candidates are expected to have a strong background in medical imaging, breast tomosynthesis and experience in system evaluation and clinical investigation.
Brief Description of Duties:
The Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principal Investigator in the . The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University. The successful incumbent will join the PI's research group at the Department of Radiology at Stony Brook University School of Medicine and Stony Brook Cancer. They will perform research in the development and clinical investigation of the next generation of digital breast tomosynthesis systems.
We are looking for a highly motivated and creative individual who is interested in developing novel imaging techniques for the improvement of breast cancer detection.
Additionally, the candidate must have significant interest in immersing themselves in the clinical evaluation of these imaging techniques through patient studies. The postdoctoral fellow should possess good verbal and written communication skills in English, the ability to work productively and independently in a collaborative environment, strong problem-solving skills, and be willing to provide mentorship to junior members of the laboratory.
- Phantom imaging studies using digital breast tomosynthesis systems.
- Image quality evaluation using both projection and reconstructed images.
- Image reconstruction and post processing techniques to improve visualization.
- Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations.
- Coordinate with collaborators/vendors to maintain the system and conduct QA and QC.
- Other duties as assigned, which may include attending Conferences.

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
