BAE Systems Program Engineering Manager - Recovery, Artillery, Sustainment & International in Sterling Heights, Michigan

Job Description

BAE Systems is hiring a Program Engineering Manager (PEM) for the Recovery, Artillery, Sustainment & International portfolio.

The PEM will be responsible for the technical and operational leadership of the projects to include development, production, and sustainment. The Program Engineering Manager s primary responsibility is to control the design configuration, coordinate engineering support, lead the team in resolving issues, and ensure the implementation of approved engineering changes.

The Program Engineering Manager Provides Oversight and Management of:

  • Engineering team management in support of the projects

  • Collaborating and advising on balanced design solutions

  • Engineering supervision of Vendor Information Requests (VIRs) from Supply Chain, Problem Reports (PRs), tracking metrics, and ensuring the issues are being resolved

  • Ensuring maintenance of the Technical Data Package (TDP), master model and association between 3D CAD models and 2D drawings

  • Mentorship and development of engineering personnel assigned to support the efforts

  • Attends meetings with engineering/program management for status reporting

  • Submittal of Contract Data Requirements (CDRLs) with engineering impact

  • Basis of Estimate (BOE) development for redesign and producibility improvements with engineering impact

  • Engineering products going to Problem Review Board and Configuration Control Board

  • Generation and reporting of Dashboard metrics on activities

  • Engineering risk assessment

  • Manpower assessments, functional staffing reviews, and resource loading

  • Financial performance in conjunction with Engineering Cost Account Managers (CAMs) to include baseline adjustments as appropriate

  • Obsolescence management

  • Supports ISO, CMMI, Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA), Quality and corporate audits

  • Continuously strives to maintain and enhance the technical reputation of BAE Systems with customers and industry

  • Maintains familiarity with industry practices, trends, and applications to enhance the organization s technical capabilities

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or closely related field and 6 years related work experience.

  • Experience with Department of Defense programs, preferably US Army combat vehicle production and associated processes

  • Demonstrated aptitude for proactive problem solving

  • Strong computer skills with MS Office suite to support metrics, reports and documents

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; attention to detail, coupled with good time management and organizational skills

  • Sound interpersonal skills for interfacing and coordinating with company personnel, customers, and suppliers

  • Ability to make decisions using sound judgment while complying with policies, procedures, appropriate principles and applicable state and federal laws and regulations

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Ability to develop and maintain professional and effective relationships with internal and external customers

  • Experience with root cause analysis (RCCA)

  • Experience presenting data, analysis and ability to present Senior Leadership Team with recommendations

  • Sustainment and international experience

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $112420 - $191070

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
