Job Responsibilities Prepare and create a topical show by gathering information from news flashes, wire copy, periodicals, computer, web and television. Interview guests and other famous or public personalities, as well as moderating panels or discussion shows. Engage listeners cheerfully on social media, the phone and at live events. Preparation of online blogs and similar social media activities on behalf of the station; the creation of podcasts or videos or both for online distribution, and participation in, and use of, various digital media platforms. Ensure that contests and promotions are conducted in compliance with FCC regulations, as well as federal and state laws. Follow and enforce FCC regulations, station and company polices, including implementing station's/state's EAS procedures. Promote the Company and clients of the Company by planning and attending in-person appearances such as community events, including hosting and assisting at charity functions and remote broadcasts. Maintain positive relationships with national & local community. Assure thorough, advance preparation of content, commercials, technical arrangements and show elements. Maintain and build a positive cooperative attitude within the station. Build working relationships with co-workers, customers, vendors and the general public Act in a professional manner when representing each station. Attend and participate in meetings are required. Report to work on time and work established schedule/hours. Ability to work other hours or alternate schedules as needed, as assigned or required. Make public appearances. Complete other duties as requested and needed. Job Overview THE most unusual, unique and full-on BLAST of a talk radio station is looking for our next star. myTalk 107.1 is a Marconi, Crystal, Gracie-winning pop-culture and entertainment talk station in Minneapolis/St. Paul owned by Hubbard Radio. Our founding afternoon show Lori & Julia are retiring after 22 years (!) so it s time for what s next. DO: Be an original - not looking for typical radio bits or talent. Be authentic no puking, no radio cliches, no narrow stereotypes, no lazy, routine-loving hosts. Be obsessive in your knowledge and interest in pop culture and entertainment. Be truly interested in the welfare of your listeners and the Twin Cities. We do public service a lot of it. Be a good citizen if you have a massive ego, anger management problems, or treat people like poorly you need not apply. DON T: Tell yourself this is a typi al radio job. It is not. It s way more fun and more work. Be a jerk. Seriously see above. We have a firm no jerks/tools/bullies policy. Period. Be a punch in/punch out and live your life kind of host. BRING your life TO the airwaves this is NOT an air shift - it s a HUMOR-BASED TALK SHOW. Did I write that in enough caps? lol Rely on prep services, old-style radio conventions/crutches or a 1990 s (or 80 s, or 00 s, or 2010 s ) sensibility. It s like podcasting but better. It s like radio but more funnier and more different-er. This position creates and performs live and recorded broadcasts that are entertaining and informative, that project the Company's desired on-air image, and that achieve maximum audience acceptance and ratings. On Air Talent works closely with the Brand and Content Director and Sales + Promotions teams to grow revenue and on-air and digital audience.
