As the Accounting Director, you will provide supervision and leadership to the accounting department that ensures timely and accurate preparation of the financial statements and other reporting. This includes oversight of the daily financial duties including AP, AR, Payroll, banking, fixed assets and general ledger through supervision of the staff supporting these functions. Maintain all banking relationships and implement improvements to banking processes. Plan, organize and coordinate the year-end process with external auditors and ensure timely tax filings. The Accounting Director is responsible for all accounting functions for a $225 million organization; this requires support for all 350 budgeting units, 26 Lines of Service, and Central Support functions. This includes a minimum of 35 financial statements for 350 business units monthly, all audit related issues, banking, outside reporting and tax preparation for 5 organizations that roll up under Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota. Job Requirements: Four year BA or BS degree in Accounting or related field required 7+ years progressive accounting experience including 3 years supervisory/leadership experience required Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP is required; CPA very strongly preferred Strong technology skills including proficiency with Microsoft Excel required Must possess strong leadership and Communication skills (listening, speaking, and writing) to include the ability to give work direction, lead and promote teamwork throughout the organization. Analytical, investigative, and organizational skills Must be well organized and detail oriented to complete work correctly and in a timely manner. Interpersonal skills, including diplomacy, firmness, the ability to provide constructive criticism, and to teach others are essential.
