Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Accountant reports to the Director, Investment Operations, and supports the Manager, Investment Operations, Senior Director, Investment Operations, the Health Ministries, and Financial Reporting in the administration and accounting for the Ascension Alpha Fund, LLC (the “Fund”) and other cash and investment management programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for the detailed accounting, accelerated monthly close process, and administration of multiple investment portfolios. This includes preparation and distribution of monthly earnings allocation and all internal and external reporting (daily, monthly, quarterly, and annually).

  • Reconciliation of monthly reporting, unitized plan accounting, general ledgers, and detailed recordkeeping systems. Maintenance of GL accounts, GL reports and Excel closing documents.

  • First-line contact with Health Ministries concerning intercompany accounting, in-house banking and control pool reconciliations.

  • Preparation of audit supporting schedules and confirmation requests and their resolution including financial statement and footnote preparation which includes Topic 820 Fair Value and Topic 815 derivative disclosures. Preparation of Advisory Committee reports, accounting disclosures, and other special projects/reports as necessary.

  • Liaison with custodial banks and administrators. Responsible for the implementation of new unitized plan accounting and overall financial integrity.

  • Preparation and assistance with monthly monitoring of the asset allocation for all portfolios and participants.

  • Coordination of data between custodian bank, investment consultant, and investment managers. Primary user-support contact for maintenance of online access to recordkeeping system for the portfolios. Preparation of foreign compliance and registration for investment managers.

  • Responsible for trade communications, journal entries, unitized instructions and other pertinent communication for portfolio rebalancing activity in a time sensitive and accurate manner.

  • Responsible for the annual alternative manager audited financial statement and Form ADV review as a part of ongoing due diligence and compliance.

  • Promotes and practices the Ascension Core Values.

Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • Accountant Licensure required relevant to state in which work is performed preferred.

Education:

  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree with 1 year of experience OR 5 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. 2 years of leadership or management experience preferred.

Additional Preferences

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or other pertinent field with two to four years of financial investment experience preferred. A CPA, MBA and/or CFA candidate is preferred.
