JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for setting up, operating and performing maintenance on all perfect binders. Responsible for leading a crew of people to achieve optimum efficiency. The Binder Operator is required to maintain production logs and 1st Articles.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
Sets up and operates all binders in a safe, efficient manner, daily.
Meets or exceeds Walsworth's standards for waste and throughput on a daily basis.
Reads and understands special instructions on job tickets and ship reports to process customer orders accurately, daily.
Leads and coaches crew members to achieve optimum efficiency daily.
Performs routine preventative maintenance on all binders weekly.
Cross trains on other work centers such as stitchers, 3-knife trimmers and small machines as time allows and as needed.
Troubleshoots mechanical and operational problems on the binder and collator as needed.
Completes special projects as needed.
Must be able to read, follow and perform work instructions.
Other duties may be assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Basic PC skills are required.
Must be able to retrieve tickets and ship reports from network computer, understand and interpret to complete customer requirements.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must have strong mechanical aptitude.
Must be able to understand special instructions on job tickets and ship reports and process customer orders with information provided.
Must be able to effectively troubleshoot mechanical and operational problems.
Previous experience as a binder operator is necessary.
Leadership skills are necessary as this position leads a crew of up to 10 people.
