Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a SUPPLY TECHNICIAN (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1901000 and is part of the IL USPFO, National Guard. Responsibilities As a SUPPLY TECHNICIAN (TITLE 32), GS-2005-5/6/7, you will provide storage and distribution, cataloging or supply identification systems, property utilization or other related supply activities including those associated with automated or manual supply accounting systems. Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list: Analyze supply transactions or provided customer service for urgent critical shortage items and other items requiring special handling when established procedures are not applicable. Determine stock replenishment levels for centrally controlled items. Review inventory on-hand, requisitioning objective, contingency stocks, and develop courses of action based on these conditions. Research supply regulations, policies, procedures, and other instructions applicable to the specific assignment. Conducts extensive and exhaustive searches for required information to reconstruct records for complex supply transactions. Review requisitions, supporting documents and reference material to perform material coordination and storage management responsibility for special programs, maintenance, and production shops. Perform routine aspects of supply technical work that is based on a practical knowledge of standard procedures, where assignments include individual case problems related to a limited segment in one of the major areas of supply management, such as inventory management, excess property, storage management, etc. Requirements Conditions of Employment NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement. Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. Indefinite position/temporary promotion/may become permanent. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Qualifications AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of considerations for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence: The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG. The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees. The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible. The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership. The FIFTH area of consideration will U.S. Citizens. Military Grades: Enlisted/Warrant Officer/Officer - May not exceed the rank of O2 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: MUST possess experience, education, or training in a variety of operations or situations concerned with substance or content of supply actions, requiring ability to decide course of action to take, considering the circumstances or conditions encountered; and using computer and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-07 Level - MUST possess specialized experience which includes 12 months experience which has provided a working knowledge of governing supply regulations, policies, procedures, and instructions applicable to the specific assignment; experience conducting extensive searches for required information; reconstructing records for complex supply transactions; and/or provide supply operations support for activities involving specialized or unique supplies, equipment, or parts; and experience performing routine aspects of supply work based on practical knowledge of standard procedures, where assignments include individual case problems related to a limited segment in one of the major areas of supply management. GS-06 Level - MUST possess specialized experience which includes 9 months of experience which has provided knowledge of governing supply regulations, policies, procedures, and instructions applicable to the specific assignment; experience conducting searches for required information; reconstruct records for routine supply transactions; and/or provide supply operations support for activities involving specialized or unique supplies, equipment, and parts; and experience performing routine aspects of supply specialist work based on practical knowledge of standard procedures, where assignments include individual case problems related to a limited segment in one of the major areas of supply management. GS-05 Level - MUST possess specialized experience which includes 6 months of experience which has provided knowledge of standardized supply regulations, policies, procedures, or other instructions relating to the specific functions assigned; experience that demonstrates knowledge of one or more automated supply databases to enter and retrieve recurring reports; and experience using working knowledge of the structure of a supply organization and the organizations serviced. In order to be considered qualified, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in Federal service. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
