Carnival Cruise Line Digital Product Owner - Guest Technology in Southampton, United Kingdom

Job Description

We recognise the value in having people with a variety of backgrounds, experience and skills in our business. That means the role requirements here should be seen as a guide, not a checklist. If you have more, less or different experiences, but really relevant skills, we’d love to hear from you.

We work flexibly and will help you to find a healthy balance of remote working and time in our fantastic Southampton office, collaborating, taking part in events and getting to know people that makes working with us so rewarding. We welcome the opportunity to discuss reduced hours and job share arrangements.

The Role

Due to an exciting time of growth within our Guest Technology team we are looking to welcome a Digital Product Owner, to support our programme of continuous development and enhance the user experience of our guest’s digital journey, a key factor in creating unforgettable holiday happiness.

The Digital Product Owner will be a key member of our Agile development team, working closely with the Delivery Lead, Product Manager, and business stakeholders to deliver a regular programme of feature releases in partnership with their agile scrum teams - including architects, and offshore developers and testers.

You will

  • Translate and communicate the product vision, backlog and priorities to the development team based on value, so their intentions are understood and applied.

  • Take ownership of agreed features and business owner relationships, writing and refining user stories for development, holding regular sync meetings to keep Product Managers(s) up to date with roadmap movements and facilitate / own key agile ceremonies.

  • Determine the sprint goals and influence the roadmap development, supporting the delivery of the agreed product roadmap of features; ensuring relevant subject matter experts (SMEs) are consulted at all stages to make the result fit-for-purpose, whilst ensuring optimal ROI for our capital and operating expenditure

  • Own feature-level UX, working with UX specialist and business stakeholders ensuring alignment with requirements and agreed digital brand guidelines

Our role categories range from CUK15 (entry level) to CUK1 (Brand President) so you can clearly see internal development opportunities. This role is a CUK08 and is offered on a full time, permanent basis, with hybrid working in our Southampton office, a minimum of 3 days per week. Due to the nature of the guest facing digital products you will be supporting, there will be occasional travel internationally to our ships.

About You

Fresh ideas and different perspectives are what excite us most and help us to succeed. Alongside bringing these to the role, you’ll also need:

  • Previous experience as a Product Owner with an understanding of customer behaviour and a passion for user experience, ideally with experience working with content, E commerce and property management systems

  • Outstanding communication, presentation and leadership skills which means you can work with multiple levels of stakeholders

  • In-depth knowledge of Agile process and principles

  • Ability to balance the need for organisation and detail along with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities

  • Ideally an understanding of Cruise, Travel or Hospitality industry

Being part of our team has its advantages…
