Description If you're looking to build your career in accounting, there's currently a long-term contract / contract to permanent Staff Accountant position in the Wholesale Distribution industry with Robert Half that you may want to check out. The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, you will hold responsibility over many aspects of internal reporting. In addition, you will support the development and implementation of accounting policies. In addition, you will play an active role in compliance, collaborate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This very involved position works to produce Cash Flow projections, Financial Statements, and Budgets. Based in the Skokie, Illinois region, this company offers an engaging and mulit-faceted opportunity where effort is rewarded.

Key responsibilities

• Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested

• Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

• Maintain fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

• Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll

• Participate in various department-wide initiatives

• Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting

• Manage capital lease and monthly payment schedules

• Complete month end close, journal entries, without supervision

• Offer succinct analysis on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a clear and concise manner

• Participate in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation Requirements - Exceptional analytical, quantitative and social skills

• Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines

• Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases

• Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment

• Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required

• BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

• Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel

• Recent and relevant accounting experience

• Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

• Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

• Proficient with spreadsheets and databases

• Skilled with ERP systems
