    Job Summary

    Assists in drug preparation, drug storage, drug distribution, drug inventory, and required record keeping under the supervision of a Pharmacist. Maintains confidentiality when dealing with all customers. Must utilize effective problem solving skills and appropriate. Conveys enthusiasm and sincerity and promotes Avera McKennan and its services in a positive manner to all customers. Supports Avera Health/Avera McKennan through the daily application of our mission, vision, core values and social principles while providing quality care and service to our patients, their families, coworkers, physicians, volunteers, and the communities we serve. Must be flexible to change and have the ability to work effectively with Safety Principles. Coordinates work flow with other team members to ensure a productive and efficient environment. May be involved on organization committees. Able to deal with phone conversations, correspondence, or direct contact with people about billing issues. Need working knowledge of insurance, Medicare and basic accounting principles. Works proactively with specialty pharmacy patients to provide comprehensive financial planning and financial advocacy. Responsible for prescription insurance verification, prior authorizations and compassionate care medication programs. Provides superior customer service; facilitates third party and patient billing for specialty pharmacy patients. Secures pharmacy patient accounts to ensure payment of medications; provides problem solving for specialty patients and internal customers.

    Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • Completion of Pharmacy Technician Technical Program preferred.

    CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, and/or REGISTRATIONS

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician by the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board required. If not yet certified, the candidate has 2 years from date of hire to get Certification.

  • Registration with the South Dakota Board of Pharmacy required within 30 days of employment.

    Work Schedule

  • No weekends or holidays.

    Pay

    The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

  • $20.50 - $26.00 per hour
