Trinity Health Registered Nurse-Intermediate Medical Care Unit in Silver Spring, Maryland

Description:

  • Unit Description: This 30-bed unit provides care for high-acuity patients across a wide spectrum of complex specialties. Comorbidities are diverse and patients often require cardiac telemetry monitoring and/or mechanical ventilator support.

  • Full-time rotating day/night shift schedule (7am – 7pm or 7 pm – 7 am).

  • Reporting to the Director of 3 South/Intermediate Care Unit.

  • Unit equipped with two negative pressure rooms and patient lift assist equipment in all rooms.

  • On-site Nurse educator.

  • Acute/Critical Care course for nurses who are new to the acute, in-patient population. Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support patient-centered continuum of care.

  • Ability to communicate variances from patient goals and advocate on behalf of patient.

  • Maintain accurate and timely healthcare records.

  • Administer medications to patients, provide education and monitor for efficacy and side effects.

  • Assess, monitor, report and record patient condition and pertinent changes.

  • Design, implement and evaluate patient nursing care plans with healthcare team.

  • Educates patients and family throughout stay and in preparation for discharge.

  • Additional Additional Minimum licensure/certification required (if applicable) Required:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree (BSN or MSN) preferred. Note, if the basic professional degree is not present on hire, the employee must engage in a basic professional nursing degree program within twelve (12) months of hire

  • Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.

  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association

  • Current knowledge of nursing skills and practice.

  • Computer and audiovisual skills using various applications: internet, email, word processing

  • Effectively read, speak, write, compose and comprehend English

  • Effective eye and hand coordination

  • Ability to analyze and synthesize information in a rapidly changing environment.

  • Effective problem-solving skills, including organization and prioritization.

  • Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize
