Job Title: Nurse In Charge position for the Operating Room

Employment Type: Part-time

Shift: Every other weekend (12 hour shifts)

Location: Silver Spring, MD

Description:

The Nurse in Charge (NIC) is a designated clinical leader for a patient care area who works under the supervision of and in collaboration with the Department Director to plan and coordinate care at the service/department level.

Responsibilities:

  • Cost effective decision-making regarding operations including utilization and application of resources. (i.e., human resources, patient care environment, supplies, etc.)

  • Directing and supervising professional and non-professional staff.

  • Determining staff assignment and scheduling.

  • Assuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.

  • Participating in the development of patient care standards and delivery of care processes.

  • Facilitating and participating in staff development, including orientation and training.

  • Participating in performance evaluation and management including verbal coaching and counseling.

  • Participating in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the quality improvement and safety plan.

  • Maintaining a clinical environment that demonstrates service excellence.

  • Functioning as a professional role model and resource person.

  • The authority to exercise these responsibilities often requires the use of independent judgment. The NIC supports the Mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Health.

What you will need

Required:

  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing required.

  • Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.

  • BLS certification (American Heart Association)

  • Department specific specialty certification required within six months of start of position.

  • At least 3 year of nursing experience in a Operating room setting.

Preferred:

  • MSN preferred
