Sheridan County Weed & Pest Invasive Species Control Crew Lead in Sheridan, Wyoming

JOB SUMMARY Sheridan County Weed and Pest (SCWP) is seeking an experienced and driven Invasive Species Control Crew Lead to assist the district in the implementation of district programs in accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines. The Invasive Species Control Crew Lead will be responsible for managing the following district programs: leafy spurge mitigation, saltcedar mitigation, state and federal land weed mitigation, and other programs as assigned by the district supervisor. The invasive species control crew lead shall assist in training and management of seasonal employees on matters of SCWP policy and procedure, hazard communication, personal protective equipment, skills development, and commercial applicator license testing, as well as manage spray crews in the field. The invasive species control crew lead will assist the district with invasive species control projects, reports, related documentation, as well as equipment maintenance and repairs. Other duties include, but are not limited to, processing payments for control activities, grant applications/reports, community relations, collecting and recording related data, and planning, implementing and overseeing invasive species control projects. Duties will be highly variable depending on season and need. Most field activities occur during the summer and mid-winter, and office duties in the autumn and spring. There is significant exposure to extreme heat and extreme cold under demanding physical conditions. Applicants must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and walk over rough terrain as well as spendextended amounts of time at a desk. The ability and willingness to work both independently and as a team member, take instruction, give instruction, lead a team with integrity, be honest, have a positive attitude, make critical decisions, get along with coworkers, and act in a manner conducive to good business relations is critical to the success of an employee in this position. The position will work 40 hours per week with a schedule assigned by the District supervisor.
