Who will you be working with?

You will be working with our Engineering team who are expertise to design and deliver contemporary electronics solutions to Transportation businesses including Global Locomotive, Global Service and Mining.

How will you make a difference?

As a member of the Engineering group/division, you will be responsible for all Locomotive and Off Highway Vehicle power solutions at Wabtec.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Power Electronics or electronical engineering.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience with power electronics design and development.

  • Experience with managing printed circuit design involving various circuit topologies for DC/DC converters, rugged construction, mechanical integration, and design for electromagnetic compliance.

  • Strong Understanding of theory of operation and topology tradeoffs based on application, such as control, complexity, cost, design constraints, etc.

  • Strong Design, analysis, and/or test experience with any of the following isolated converter topologies: flyback, forward, LLC, full-bridge, and/or push-pull. Design scope will ideally include stability.

  • Familiarity with circuit simulator LTspice and/or analysis tool Mathcad.

  • Experience with Mentor Graphics DxDesigner, and/or Altium

  • Experience with transformer and inductor design considerations.

  • Strong knowledge of circuit and PCB design to meet EMC requirements Knowledge of global EMC standards. Expertise in EMC mitigation including conducting or guiding experiments to locate the root cause source, victim, or coupling path.

  • Worst-case circuit analysis, failure method and criticality analyses, and reliability analysis

  • Electronic system design experience for robust environmental performance, electromagnetic compliance, and mechanical packaging experience for vibration and thermal robustness.

  • Excellent writing and communication skills involving specification development, team communications, communications with management and cross-functional team management

  • Experience managing external electronic components suppliers. Unit level requirements specifications, vendor project management, problem identification and resolution, and project timeline and milestone management.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Power Electronics Technical Leader for all Locomotive and Off Highway Vehicle power solutions at Wabtec.

  • Be the go-to person for all power supplies and board power development and sustainment responsibilities.

  • Manage key technology vision for product reliability, stability and life-cycle robustness.

  • Manage product roadmap to minimize obsolescence liability and to ensure best in class product performance and customer value.

  • Manage power supply specifications and product life cycle documentation.

  • Manage power supply related firmware development and work with internal and external resources to specify and develop firmware requirements.

  • Work with cross functional Controls, Software and Packaging teams to define product requirements and facilitate power supply locomotive and OHV system integration and environmental robustness

  • Manage power supply development testing and validation, production test requirements and all field test operations

  • Work with Sourcing team to specify power supply manufacturing processes, manage drawing development and drawing systems, manage Bill Of Materials and support power supply electronic product life cycle needs.
