Alamo Group Inc. Product Specialist - Ohio (Remote) in Seguin, Texas

Position Summary:

Provides excellent customer support through technical expertise to increase customer and dealer satisfaction with Alamo Group TX (AGTX) products and is the primary contact with our local dealers. Provides equipment repair consultation services to respond to customer needs in a positive, pro-active, and timely manner. Responds to technical product directives for matters requiring troubleshooting, testing, updates, documentation, and completion of field repairs. Assists sales team through product demonstrations for dealers and customers in the field. Performs technical training to increase dealer diagnostic competency and decrease warranty claims on AGTX products. Could perform, if necessary, tasks requiring welding, machining, fabrication, and completion of assemblies.

*This position will be based and hired within Ohio, work remote with 50% travel, often to our Gradall facility located in New Philadelphia, OH.*

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Represents company professionally by traveling to field locations to investigate, troubleshoot and resolve customer equipment issues.

  • Functions as primary connection between Alamo Group TX, the dealer, and the customer.

  • Works effectively across multiple companies and Alamo Group TX departments.

  • Coordinates customer/dealer visits, machine evaluations, parts deliveries, and service work with little to no supervision.

  • Provides onsite sales support for product demonstrations and technical questions.

  • Creates detailed reports and provides management with a summary of service-related information.

  • Works with customer service to address warranty issues and to increase customer product satisfaction.

  • Consults on troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems through engineering drawings, schematics, and CAD software.

  • Operates equipment after completion to perform durability and required testing.

  • Performs technical training to dealers and customers.

  • Creates and updates equipment service manuals and service bulletins.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):

  • Strong knowledge of farm equipment, construction equipment or have high mechanical aptitude.

  • Strong personal integrity to perform remote service work to the highest standards driving customer satisfaction.

  • Excellent communication skills required, both verbal and written.

  • Good human relations skills are necessary.

  • Ability to travel domestically by commercial air carrier and automobile on short notice, including overnight stays; travel approximately 50%.

  • Must be able to work independently, prioritize work schedule, multi-task, and work under pressure to meet goals/objectives.

  • Good leadership skills required, ability to problem solve, persuade, and motivate is essential.

  • Ability to read and use precision measuring devices and equipment, including micrometers, multi-meters, and calipers.

  • Strong troubleshooting and knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems in mobile equipment.

  • Must have good math skills, technical communication skills and up-to-date computer skills with an interest in learning newer software tools.

Education and Experience:

  • Technical College Degree in related field preferred. High school diploma/GED required.

  • Agricultural, construction or mobile equipment dealership experience preferred.

  • 5 years’ experience in heavy equipment environment preferred.

  • Experience in Deutz engines a plus.

  • Experience with engineering drawings and engineering software a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand for prolonged periods.

  • Must be able to lift 35 pounds alone and greater than 35 pounds with assistance.

  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment while performing work in production environment.

  • Operates forklift and overhead crane to move parts and materials.

  • Must have current, insurable driver’s license as this position requires travel to customer locations.

  • Must be able to work irregular and/or extended hours (including weekends) as needed to complete job assignments.

  • Must present/maintain a professional appearance.

  • Must be able to travel up to 50% of the year.
