We are looking for an experienced Sr. DBA to join our expanding Enterprise Technical Services team who is highly motivated, team oriented, and committed to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and delivering quality products and services.

As part of the Platform Engineering team, the Senior DBA is responsible for building and delivering optimized, stable, and secure Database Platforms at Weyerhaeuser. This role will require operational Database duties along with the ability to innovate and create modern solutions for legacy processes and platforms.

This role has the ability to be a fully remote work-from-home position, provided you are currently based (or are planning to move to) one of the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, Washington. This role is not open to those who live in other states or countries.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the planning and execution of technical projects that interact with a wide variety of teams.

  • Identify and implement technologies that improve efficiency, workflow, and risk mitigation.

  • Collaborate with application teams and support their database requirements.

  • Rotating on call platform support.

  • Lead and mentor future team members with best practices and procedures.

  • Maintain and ensure service-level and availability of Database Platforms.

  • Tier 3 supports escalation for Database platform operational issues.

  • Perform quarterly IT controls and governance tasks.

  • Maintain and update Procedures, IT Controls and Governance documentation.

  • Keeps abreast of evolving technologies and anticipates technological evolutions that could be leveraged to enhance -Database platforms.

  • Follows architectural and technical standards and processes.

Required Skills & Qualifications::

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum five to eight years of information technology experience managing Microsoft SQL databases.

  • Minimum eight (8) years of progressive, relevant information technology experience.

  • Minimum of five (5) years as a Database Administrator.

  • Strong SQL Server installation and administration experience within a thousand plus database Enterprise Environment.

  • Perform upgrades and apply service packs for SQL Server and Oracle.

  • Monitor and manage data indexes, performance, and tuning.

  • Refresh schemas and datasets for development and testing, redacting live data or using data generation tools.

  • Define and implement database security consistent with enterprise standards and guidelines.

  • Proficient in T-SQL, stored procedures, and functions.

  • Perform database backup and restore and assist with disaster recovery processes.

  • Experience with Database Cloud Native technologies such as AWS RDS and MS AZURE RDBMS offerings.

  • Experience in monitoring, incident handling, troubleshooting, patching, day-to-day infrastructure administration, upgrades, installation of new systems, vulnerability remediation, and supporting process definition and implementation, and troubleshooting, cybersecurity.

  • Experience with Server Operations and Administration.

  • Strong problem solving and root cause analysis skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Excellent collaboration skills working across all IT teams.

  • Self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations to technical audiences.

  • Proven ability to operate and effectively communicate while under pressure; as well as the ability to manage a diverse workload and work under time constraints with minimal supervision.

  • Actively work to learn new skills to stay current with changing technologies and industry trends.

  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office365 tools such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote, Teams, and SharePoint.

Desired Skills:

  • One year’s experience with Oracle.

  • Azure DevOps & source control.

  • Microsoft or Linux Server Administrator experience.

  • ETL processes and data mart databases.

  • Spatial Database operations assistance and maintenance.

  • Familiar with SSIS.

  • SQL Server Reporting Services.

  • Infrastructure as code.

Compensation

This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $104,310 - $156,464 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 10% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.
