Amazon Software Development Manager in Seattle, Washington

Description

Customer Forecasting and Valuation team owns the primary decision metrics at Amazon, leveraging causal machine-learning models to predict the long-term impact of customer actions. These metrics drive several investment and launch decisions across Amazon.

In order to serve the wide variety of and rapidly evolving decision contexts throughout Amazon, our models have to work with an ever-increasing volume and complexity of data and at the same time provide inferences with reliability and low-latency.

We seek a creative leader who: (1) is passionate about their work, (2) works well with others, (3) has a positive attitude, and (4) can collaborate closely with the product team and other client teams.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Work with senior executives to develop business targets and resource requirements, and influence our technical and business strategy.

  2. Conceive innovative new solutions for our customers, at the intersection of multiple fields: Machine Learning, Big Data, and Analytics.

  3. Work closely with the science lead and the science team to bring new ML algorithms into production.

  4. Mentor senior engineers and technical leads and provide leadership on complex technical issues, design tradeoffs, and feature and schedule prioritization.

  5. Manage the design, implementation, test, and deployment of the services.

  6. Hire and develop talented engineers and technical leads.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of engineering team management experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $148,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
