The role is part of the In-Space Systems business unit, which is focused on development, manufacturing, and operation of satellite systems to address one of the most compelling challenges in spaceflight today: space mobility. As part of our RF Communications subsystem team, you will help design, manufacture, and test our next-generation spacecraft RF and optical communication systems. You will be responsible for the design, production, and testing of the entire subsystem. Your scope will include analysis, specifications, procurement/manufacturing drawings, AI&T planning, execution management, and operations support for end-to-end communications subassemblies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in RF engineering, satellite communications, and systems engineering, as well as excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. * Relocation provided * Travel expected up to 10% of the time Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Design, install, and checkout mission critical communications systems supporting real-time telemetry data, video, to support reusable spacecraft operations Troubleshoot end-to-end data flows and identify sections of failure Design, implement and record tests of the RF systems for requirements verification. Antenna analysis and characterization Build and execute procurement strategy including supplier vetting, selection, and management Establish procedures for verification of requirements and specifications against selected communications hardware through bench, integrated systems, and field testing to ensure interoperability and functionality Develop and maintain configuration control and inventory of RF communications assets Create detailed documentation, including functional and logical diagrams, for mission communications systems Architecture definition, including system sizing, requirements, and performance Develop integrated design solutions, rapidly assess conceptual designs, and establish communication system requirements and performance parameters Work with systems engineering to maintain system-level performance metrics including link budget, phase noise, and coverage analyses for all phases of flight Determine test and integration requirements as well as support hardware integration lab and vehicle testing Coordinate critical interfaces to space relay platforms, ground stations, and internally to command and data handling/payload subsystems Support Launch and Early Operations/Commissioning ops on console Lead and execute peer reviews in support of engineering releases and first article builds Minimum Qualifications B.S. in Electrical Engineering, or related technical subject area At least 3+ years of experience in avionics communication systems development and integration Full knowledge of spacecraft communication systems, design, radios, antennas, RF components, waveforms. Experience executing on flight systems development, including architecture, requirement definition, design, assembly, integration, verification and validation, qualification, and operations Experience building satellite communication systems, a
