Amazon Business Intelligence Engineer, Social Media CS (SMCS) in Seattle, Washington

The Social Media Customer Service (SMCS) organization is looking for a Business Intelligence Engineer who is passionate about translating business problems into actionable business insights, protecting customers, simplifying solutions, and can thrive working in a diverse, global team.

Key job responsibilities

• Partner with stakeholders from business, product and operations teams to define priority of BI projects, and reporting / Program Management for BI projects

• Lead high impact BI projects - Performing deep-dives to derive actionable insights; Creating models to predict outcomes and optimize business processes

• Participating in cross-functional projects in collaboration with CS and business teams globally

• Provides solutions that inform key stakeholder’s business decisions

• Drives best practices in operational excellence, data modelling, and analysis

• Building self-service reporting tools and dashboards

• Providing SQL support and delivering trainings (SQL, Tableau, etc.)

A day in the life

As the SMCS BIE, you will translate business problems into actionable business insights. You are an analysis expert who leverages a variety of data platforms and analytical tools to provide a holistic view of the customer experience on social media. You build deep contextual and domain knowledge, ensure data quality and build scalable tools. You effectively communicate findings across a wide range of senior stakeholders.

About the team

SMCS monitors and responds to customers and trending issues on social media platforms, solves customer problems, escalates trending and systemic issues, and positively engages with customers. As a global contact channel, our Operations team responds to customer inquiries across Amazon's 700+ Social Media accounts. We assist 22 countries, and 14 different languages. Our mission is to provide social media assistance that adds value to our customers’ connections with Amazon.

SMCS is constantly innovating in order to scale service for the customers who need help today, and building new solutions for the next generation of customers. We hold our team to relentlessly high standards in order to protect our customers. We ensure our systems are secure, reliable, and that available to customers whenever they need to reach out to us.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling

  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools

  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines

  • Experience in analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc.

  • Bachelor's degree in BI, finance, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics, finance or equivalent quantitative field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift

  • Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets

  • Experience working as a BIE in a technology company

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $79,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
