Ellis Medicine Community Workforce Recruiter in Schenectady, New York

Grant Funded Position through 12/31/25

The Community Workforce Recruiter will focus on cultivating relationships and engagement activities within the community and attracting adult candidates from specific underrepresented and differently abled groups and by creating employment pathways and education opportunities for low-income and underserved young adults in Schenectady County to Ellis. Act as a liaison between internal stakeholders and community organizations, outreach programs, workforce development agencies, and candidate sources to foster partnerships and employment opportunities. Learn about the needs of underrepresented groups and neighborhoods and bring new diverse talent to Ellis by targeting sources where diverse candidates congregate and thrive. This is a t hree-year, grant funded position (through 12/31/25) and 100% onsite at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT(S):

  • Bachelor’s Degree or relevant professional experience.

  • Minimum of four years full-cycle recruiting, including professional positions, highly preferred. Experience in other HR functional areas highly desirable.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Strong aptitude and attention to detail for working with recruiting software platforms, online sourcing tools, and social media.

  • Be able to work in a team environment, possess excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, and have ability to establish strong working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.

  • Skilled at adapting to project constraints and resolving problems on my own. Able to work independently and able to complete projects on time with minimal supervision.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    The position is located indoors under normal working conditions. Should be able to push/pull 25 lbs., lift/move 15 lbs. from floor to table, be able to perform moderately difficult manual manipulations such as using a keyboard, writing, and filing for extended periods of time, must be able to perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination such as data entry, typing and using photo copiers. Mobility requirements may include the ability to sit at a computer terminal or workstation for a prolonged period of time, in addition to being able to squat, stand, and walk for a reasonable length of time and distance.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:

  • Source, attract, and recruit candidates from specific underrepresented and differently abled groups within Schenectady County .

  • Source qualified candidates by implementing extensive searching, networking, and screening techniques.

  • Proactively source candidates from underrepresented groups including Schenectady City School District, SUNY Schenectady and other local nonprofits on outreach and recruitment to work at entry-level positions.

  • Evaluate and write five job descriptions each month to ensure that the role is inclusive and equitable to all.

  • Develop solutions for a variety of recruiting needs and work on projects to support growth of community recruitment.

  • Prescreen, interview, and guide qualified candidates through the application process.

  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition Specialists who manage relevant job requisitions. Know and understand current staffing needs for relevant departments

  • Plan, coordinate and participate in recruiting events and initiatives, including open houses, job fairs, and career days.

  • Cultivate a talent pool and maintain a pipeline of qualified candidates on an on-going, proactive basis through research, sourcing, community engagement, and networking.

  • Work in partnership with and influence stakeholder groups locally to ensure current and future needs for recruiting programs are communicated.

  • Develop skills-based testing in lieu of education and experience and address language gaps.

  • Implement candidate attraction strategies (e.g., social media, traditional methods, and engagement with community leaders) to promote hiring and reach as many candidates as possible.

  • Audit marketing and employment materials to assure that the language is inclusive and generalized. Assess ways to open up the language to include more people from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences.

  • W ork to address potential talent perceptions of mistreatment and organizational discrimination through on-going education for all employees.

  • Provide weekly status updates, metrics, and reporting about open positions and both engagement and recruiting activities for leadership and KeyBank.

  • Track new hire conversion rates at each stage (recruitment, application, interview, onboarding, placement, etc.) to better understand where Ellis may need improvement to assure long-term program success. Once onboarded, the recruiter will hand off the employee to the job coach and navigators.

  • Ensure that Ellis’ employee onboarding experience accommodates workplace diversity and is inclusive to support the non-traditional healthcare employees.

  • As necessary, support various Talent Acquisition and HR projects/initiatives.

  • Excellent follow-up, organizational, and time management skills.

  • Must be willing to travel locally around the community.

  • Ability to work under pressure and independently to achieve goals and proposed targets.

    Salary Range: $24.75-$36.53/hour Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
