Position Overview:

The Emergency Department Technician functions as an integral member of the patient care team under the clinical direction of the registered nurse. Provide patient care functions related to a variety of needs and assists nurses and physicians in the performance of their practice. The Emergency Department Technician works closely with Emergency Department physicians, Consulting physicians, ED management, ED Charge Nurses, ED staff nurses, EMT's, Tele Tech/CSA's, ancillary departments and outside institution/agencies.

The Emergency Department Technician is responsible to meet patient needs to the extent of their ability and training while fostering a harmonious work environment in which high quality patient care and customer service is consistently provided. Promotes a cooperative working relationship with health care givers, physicians, other disciplines, and the public by facilitating and enhancing communication, displaying honesty and respect, displaying sensitivity to cultural differences, utilizing problem-solving skills and expressing and accepting feedback in a professional manner.

Job Description :

EDUCATION

  • HS Diploma or GED Or equivalent education/experience required.

  • Completion of an accredited Emergency and/or Medical Technician Program Preferred

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE

  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider within 60 days of hire

  • Emergency Medical Technician - EMT Preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • One-year acute ED experience as an emergency department technician within past 3 years or, one year of field triage experience as a paramedic preferred. Required.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Ability to work effectively in a high stress environment.

  • Order entry by computer.

  • Legible handwriting

  • Ability to communicate effectively.

  • Possess and utilize organizational skills, be able to set priorities.

Pay Range is $33.09 to $41.14 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
