PayPal has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Director, Tax - Global Business Support. This role will lead a team of global tax professionals responsible for partnering with the business in the delivery of new businesses initiatives, transactions and strategic changes, as well as day to day tax support. The Sr. Director is responsible for continuously creating value by developing and maintaining optimized tax structures and processes and acts as a key advisor to PayPal executives on all tax matters. The position reports to the Global Head of Tax.

  • Oversight of all tax matters in respect of the PayPal Global business.

  • Planning, implementation and defense of transactions including intellectual property structures, treaty application, reinvestment of profits, withholding tax, etc.

  • Collaboration with Provision and Compliance teams to ensure accurate reflection of transactions on financial statements/returns

  • Collaborate across all functions at PayPal, including Controllership, Treasury, Legal, Product, etc.

  • Improve processes as necessary

  • Manage experienced global team

  • Manage outside law firms and consultants

Requirements:

  • 15+ years of professional related experience

  • Strong business acumen, proactive, detail oriented, negotiation and influencing skills, team orientation, strong presentation skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to effectively relate tax issues to non-tax personnel and especially skilled at communicating with upper management on a range of broad business plans.

  • Proven ability to lead major tax planning transactions in the US and internationally to create above the line and below the line tax savings.

  • Organizational savvy. Able to challenge the status quo respectfully, and act as a catalyst within the organization. He/She should be a confident and personable individual, with a controlled ego and humble manner, who is able to work collaboratively inside and outside the tax department and build bridges at all levels of the enterprise.

  • A superior work ethic and dedication to the highest work quality and job excellence.

  • Ability to translate tax advice into potential financial impacts

  • Solid leadership skills and the ability to effectively manage a team.

  • Willingness to mentor and develop staff in multiple locations.

  • Corporate tax department experience preferred.

  • Proficiency with MS Office, in particular, Powerpoint, Excel

Education:

  • MST, JD and/or LLM strongly preferred
