PayPal Core Payment team is looking for talented, creative, and passionate java engineers to help design and build critical technical components of the Stored Value platform.We are looking for a smart, execution focused technical engineer that will be responsible for the construction and delivery of service level components that are part of the Stored Value Platform. Working closely with the Team Lead, Platform Engineer, Architect for Stored Value, the product team, and many internal technology partners, you will deliver key platform capabilities that will allow our internal business partners to develop products and experiences that will continue to drive PayPal customer growth, and increase engagement.

PayPal Core Payment Platform team is looking for a talented, creative, and passionate back end

engineer to help design and build Stored Value platform. As a self-motivated and enthusiastic

member of our team, you will work with extremely talented peers in a fun environment building

performance efficient, highly scalable, configurable and available systems. You will work in an agile

environment with a focus on problem solving and engineering excellence.

Your primary responsibilities include:

  • Design, develop and test high throughput Stored Value platform

  • Develop efficient, elegant, clean code with no unnecessary complication or abstraction

  • Optimize the Code and DB for better throughput.

  • Lead code review sessions

  • Passionate about low latency systems

  • Ability to deal with high volume data

  • Continuously look for opportunities for performance tuning

  • Collaborate with other engineers, architects and DBAs

  • Collaborate with Product Managers

Background we are looking for:

• 10+ years of experience planning, designing, developing and delivering software (Java)

related to platforms.

• Hands on experience with design and development of scalable web services and platforms.

• Strong experience in Java programming, designing and implementing REST APIs.

• Hands on experience in Java, Spring Framework and/or C/C++ for building the above.

• Current hands on experience in software environments, Continuous Integration and

Automation processes, using test driven design, using test tools and libraries, IDE’s and

tools such as: Maven, Jenkins, Eclipse, TestNG, Static code analysis tools etc

• Strong hands on experience in Oracle and SQL solutions.

• Experience developing data-driven applications using an industry standard RDBMS (Oracle,

DB2, SQL Server, MySQL, Informatica, etc.)

• Prior experience in building infrastructure for instrumenting, reporting, monitoring and

alerting.

• Demonstrated success in hiring and developing technical talent.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex

technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.

• Present technical information, status and issues, in a clear and concise manner to the team

lead and engineering managers.

• You believe in Agile development and putting the customer first in anything you

design; experience with SCRUM is a plus.

• You’re a strong advocate of good coding standards and like the use of coding tools

that will push you to improve the code you deliver like Sonar.

• You know how to identify performance bottlenecks and use good coding

patterns to avoid them in the first place.
