Splunk Finance Manager, Marketing in San Jose, California

Position Overview

Are you innately curious, passionate about building impactful analyses, and a truth seeker using financial data? Splunk is looking for a Marketing Finance Manager. Reporting into the Senior Director of Marketing & CSX FP&A, this is a highly visible role and will work closely with senior leadership across Marketing, and Finance organizations to accurately model and forecast the business and lead the strategic analysis to advise investment priorities. This role requires a good understanding of FP&A processes, strong analytical and financial modeling background, outstanding business partnership and communication skills, and the ability to balance multiple priorities and the ambiguity that comes with being part of a fast-growing organization.

Responsibilities: I want to and can do that!

  • Quickly establish positive relationships and become a key advisor for our CMO and extended Marketing leadership team, allowing you to build a solid understanding of business data inputs and outputs.

  • Build and maintain detailed financial and operating models to help predict future performance, perform scenario analyses, and guide the business on strategic decisions. Key models will include cost of customer acquisition, event and campaign ROI and other productivity analysis that drives cost efficient customer outcomes.

  • Maintain and evolve reporting automation in our Marketing expense management and planning tool, Allocadia.

  • Perform financial month-end close activities, accruals, journal entries, and budget vs. actuals analysis and reporting.

  • Drive alignment on KPIs and key metrics to track Marketing-specific trends, growth initiatives, business performance, and visibility into operating performance.

  • Roll up your sleeves and help drive the annual operating plans and quarterly/monthly financial forecasts for Marketing program spend.

  • Build presentations for CMO that summarize program performance and facilitate decision-making for Splunk management

Requirements: I’ve already done that or have that!

  • 6+ years of related experience (Marketing Operations, Technology FP&A, Big 4, investment banking, or management consulting experience is a plus).

  • Strong forecasting methods and techniques. Advanced analytical and quantitative abilities. Able to manipulate large amounts of data and summarize key outputs.

  • Articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Capable of communicating complex financial information in an easy to understand format.

  • Collaboratively-focused and able to work well with others in a fast-paced and ever changing business.

  • Comfortable completing projects requiring individual initiative and flexibility in tight time frames with minimal supervision.

  • Outstanding Microsoft Excel skills are a must.

  • Other software and system skills (Google Suite, Allocadia, Salesforce, SAP, Workday, Tableau, Slack, Zoom) a plus.

  • Proficiency in or willingness to learn Alteryx or equivalent data analytics tool.

Education: Got it!

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Statistics

Note:

Base Pay Range

SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area

Base Pay Range: $132,000.00 - 181,500.00 per year

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts

Base Pay Range: $118,800.00 - 163,350.00 per year

All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.

Base Pay Range: $105,600.00 - 145,200.00 per year

Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
