Description and Requirements

We are seeking a Field Application Engineer (FAE) to join our Tier 1 Cloud Service Provider (CSP) business, based San Jose/SF Bay Area, CA. This role is within a high-profile segment of Lenovo, requiring the development and maintenance of key relationships with some of our most valued customers and the ability to engage in executive-level discussions and technical discussions. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in datacenter infrastructure and proven history of success selling HPC, AI, and GPU solutions. This candidate should also have experience in the ODM business for CSPs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be the voice of the customer for all technical matters inside of Lenovo.

  • Work closely with Lenovo Account Executives & Inside Sales Reps supplying technical opportunity management & working with customer engineers

  • Embedded in the product design process, working with our customers and our engineering teams to develop & deliver customized solutions

  • Stay up to date on industry trends in the hyperscale datacenter market – then develop and present industry and technical presentations to various organizational levels.

  • Perform training and education to customers on our products and services

  • Develop deep technical relationships with our customers to serve as a trusted consultant

  • Understand Lenovo's data center portfolio thoroughly and recommend the most suitable solution for the customer based on their specific needs.

  • Effectively communicate the value of Lenovo solutions to customers within the CSP market.

  • Manage sales in a complex, dynamic, and deeply technical environment.

  • Assist in selling Lenovo HPC/GPU solutions to CSP clients, coordinating with Lenovo's CSP organization for design and build. Influence roadmap internally when we have gaps.

  • Provide expert guidance on the selection and implementation of inference and training frameworks for AI applications.

  • Collaborate with customers to understand their AI workloads and recommend optimal solutions for their specific needs.

  • Stay abreast of the latest developments in AI frameworks and technologies, ensuring that solutions are cutting-edge and efficient.

  • Work closely with the engineering team to integrate AI frameworks into Lenovo's offerings, enhancing product capabilities.

  • Conduct training sessions and workshops for customers and internal teams on the effective use of AI frameworks.

Scope and Impact:

  • Work with some of our best highly skilled salespeople.

  • Significant percentage of time spent directly with customer interfaces with all levels and team members supporting those accounts.

  • Direct time with customer's technical buyers as well as procurement

  • "Responsible for achieving above-average revenue targets."

Basic Requirements:

  • 7+ years of technical sales experience required

  • 3+ years of sales in GPU product and experienced in ODM

  • BS degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities

  • Strong knowledge of AI/HPC, including both software frameworks and hardware.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Ability to create quarterly business plans and annual Playbooks

  • 7+ years of experience in the strategic selling of future and current technologies

  • Integrity, willingness to provide feedback in challenging situations.

  • Project Management Skills

  • Proficient in selling to engineers.

  • Familiarity with key AI offerings from partners like NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel.

  • Ability to translate customer requirements into actionable internal requirements and clarify ambiguities.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Capability to interact effectively with executives, procurement, and technical stakeholders, both internally and externally

  • Deep understanding of popular inference and training frameworks for AI, such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and ONNX. Experience with Liquid Cool deployments in Data Centers is a plus.

  • Strong knowledge of AI/HPC, including both software frameworks and hardware.

Location:

Candidates can be based in the San Jose/San Francisco Bay Area, CA

The base salary range budgeted for this position is $160,000 - $213,600, if a candidate is located in California, the range is $147,000- $224,000. Individuals may also be considered for bonuses and/or commissions. Lenovo’s various benefits can be found at www.lenovobenefits.com.
