With the emergence of AI/ML deployment at scale, storage infrastructure is seeing significant re-architecture and design, to enable efficient deployment of memory and storage technologies! Micron is looking for an expert host software stack engineer to help our team showcase our storage and memory solutions on groundbreaking AI/ML applications while highlighting our thought leadership in this space with our customers and partners. The ideal team member will help with the following key priorities, identify, categorize, and define new market opportunities, business models, and innovative product concepts. Choose concepts for feasibility demonstration. Identify, establish, and maintain strong business relationships with potential customers and development partners. Develop take-to-market strategies. Guide and consult feasibility and take to market teams. Manage strategic business relationships with initial customers and 3rd party partners. Identify key market trends and competitive landscapes. Attend and represent Micron at appropriate industry consortia, technical organizations, and technical conferences. Identify and define new innovative product concepts and memory architectures. Establish strong technical relationships with customers partner system architects and key technologists to identify and define new innovative memory products. Develop new product/architecture specifications. Work with Micron technologists, design engineers, and engineering teams to ensure successful implementation and feasibility demonstration of new product concepts. Stay on top of new advanced technology and architecture trends in the market. Generate new intellectual property and patents. Evangelize Micron's new products, technologies, and capabilities.

What’s Encouraged Daily:

  • Enable deployment of AI/ML solutions for reference ingestion, training, and inference architectures using Micron SSDs and Micron Memory on prototype server/storage platforms – specific focus on Data Lakes, DLRMs, GNNs, Large Language Models, and Generative AI

  • Modify host software stack, drivers, or open-source, deep learning models, and algorithms, to improve storage/memory performance or optimize cost.

  • Work with engineers to test and demonstrate performance on storage infrastructures that simulate customer environments while meeting scalability, availability, security, and resiliency requirements.

  • Work collaboratively, and multi-functionally within Micron, with key domain experts to demonstrate deployment in customer storage infrastructure with Micron products.

  • Architect key performance indicators, drawing from industry standards to present to customers.

  • Drive continuous improvement feedback to Micron product development organizations by interpreting findings and summarizing them into high-level requirements.

  • Meet project schedules with a high degree of fidelity.

  • Evangelize technical content at customer meetings and key industry events.

How To Qualify:

  • A BS or MS degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, or similar along with 5 -10+ years of relevant engineering experience.

  • Foundational grasp of computer science concepts like Memory management, Virtualization (Address Translation, Pass Through, Isolation), and data storage.

  • Knowledge of Linux techniques to trace data movement.

  • Strong coding skills in C/C++, Python

  • Background in Large Dataset processing, Large Language Models, and Multi-modal frameworks with hands-on problem-solving skills

  • Object/File/Block File Systems and Storage Technologies

  • Different Storage deployments (AFAs, Containers, Distributed FS)

  • Cloud Virtualization (VMware, KVM) Technologies

  • Experience with hypervisors and SDS stacks: VMware ESX, VSAN, Microsoft Hyper-V, Azure Stack HCI, Ceph, Docker, Linux Containers

  • Operating systems and associated internal storage stacks: Microsoft, VMware, Linux

  • Familiarity with PCIe/NVMe Protocols and Memory technologies

What Sets You Apart:

  • Experience with deploying Deep Learning models for training and inference on storage infrastructure.

  • Experience with TPU/GPUs and deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, CUDA, and ROCm.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

  • A self-motivated, hard-working team player who enjoys working with diverse abilities and backgrounds

  • Good communication skills with the ability to convey sophisticated technical concepts to other design peers in verbal and written form

The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:

$205,000.00 - $375,000.00

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training. The pay scale is subject to change depending on business needs. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. Additional compensation may include benefits, discretionary bonuses and equity.
