FirstService Residential Maintenance Technician in San Francisco, California

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile Maintenance Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate should possess a diverse set of maintenance skills, including painting, plumbing, woodworking, concrete repair, electrical work, and a willingness to tackle various miscellaneous tasks. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the appearance and functionality of our managed communities, ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for our residents and visitors.

Compensation: $30-33/hourly

FirstService Residential will compensate the successful candidate in accordance with the posted range. The salary or wage paid to the successful candidate will be commensurate with experience, education, and specific job responsibilities. For positions designated at a client's property, the salary or wage will also be premised upon the client's directive. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Your Responsibilities:

The job duties listed are typical examples of the work performed by positions in this job classification. Not all duties assigned to every position are included, nor is it expected that all positions will be assigned every duty.

Painting:

  • Perform proper setup and cleanup for painting projects.
  • Prepare surfaces for painting and ensure proper adhesion.
  • Expertise in matching paint colors accurately.
  • Repair and paint stucco on buildings and walls.
  • Maintain and repair tot lot equipment through painting.
  • Repair, repaint, and install signs as needed.
  • Strip paint and repaint various community elements.
  • Repair and paint fences and gates.
  • Repair, degrease, prime, and paint barbecue grills.

Plumbing:

  • Unclog drinking fountains, sinks, toilets, showers, and drains.
  • Diagnose and repair leaks and malfunctioning toilets.

Woodwork:

  • Repair and stain benches to maintain their appearance and functionality.
  • Repair and install par course apparatus.
  • Sand and seal wood tot lot equipment and sports field benches.

Concrete:

  • Repair concrete tables and benches to ensure safety and longevity.
  • Address minor concrete cracks and holes in sidewalks.
  • Water seal concrete tables and benches for protection.

Electrical:

  • Repair light fixtures and ensure they are functioning correctly.
  • Replace light bulbs and switch plates as needed.

Miscellaneous:

  • Repair doors, doorknobs, and hinges.
  • Assist with additional maintenance tasks as assigned, ensuring the overall upkeep of the community.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience and expertise in painting, plumbing, woodworking, concrete repair, and electrical work.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to perform manual labor as needed.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license may be required.

Education & Experience:

  • Possesses a high school diploma or equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledge of the safe practices, methods, tools, and materials of the maintenance industry.
  • Technical training or certification in a relevant field is a plus but not required.

Physical Requirements and Working Environment:

  • Work is performed in a variety of environmental conditions, with exposure to outdoor temperatures, weather variations, traffic and equipment noise, equipment vibrations, vehicle and/or chemical fumes, chemicals such as cleaning solvents and grease, machinery and their moving parts and dust.
  • Work duties require the ability to stand or walk on hard surfaces for frequent and prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to move, bend, stoop, push/pull as appropriate for this physical job.
  • Must have finger dexterity.
  • Must be able to drive throughout the Community and run errands outside the community if requested.
  • The work environment characteristics are normal maintenance conditions.
  • Occasional overtime may be required.
  • Consistent and regular attendance required.
  • Based on business needs, schedule may change, including working on weekends and holidays.
  • Some exposure to dust and noise.
  • Some heavy lifting, standing, climbing.

Travel Requirements:

  • Valid California State Driver’s License and state-mandated insurance.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
