Join our friendly, collaborative, and hardworking human resources team, reporting to the Director of HR. The HR Generalist will be responsible for functioning as first-tier support for HR inquiries. This role specializes in Union, Employee Relations, and Talent Acquisition and reports to the HR Director.

    What You Would Be Accountable for:

    The HR Generalist will be responsible for the following key pieces of work:

  • The HR Generalist will be responsible for supporting the full lifecycle of an employee-s experience at SFMFB which may include recruiting, performance management, employee recognition and other assignments. The specific emphasis will be to provide support on employee inquiries, concerns, and issues in the areas of conflict, performance, and conduct. You will assist in interpreting our Collective Bargaining Agreement and HR policies documenting HR process, progressive discipline actions, and handling possible grievances.

  • Additionally, you will assist in developing processes and systems and actively contribute to changing their workplace culture for the better.

  • The incumbent will manage the full recruitment lifecycle, from posting and sourcing to selection, and collaborate with hiring managers and the HR department to gain an understanding of the best-fit applicants for the organization.

  • Management of the ATS software and additional software as added.

  • Project management as it relates to the needs of recruiting.

  • Create and maintain service-level agreements for Talent Acquisition

  • Extending of written offer letters once all approvals are met and a compensation analysis is obtained.

  • Create contracts for independent contractors

  • Monitor all background checks

    What You Would Be Doing Right Now:

  • Grievance Resolution: Efficiently manage and resolve employee grievances, ensuring adherence to company policies and legal requirements.

  • Progressive Actions: Implement and oversee progressive disciplinary actions, offering guidance to managers and employees while maintaining consistency and fairness.

  • Documentation: Maintain organized and precise HR records, including disciplinary documentation and other related records.

  • Ticketing System: Utilize our HR ticketing system to log, track, and address HR inquiries and requests with timely responses.

  • Template Systems: Create and maintain HR documentation templates to streamline processes and ensure policy compliance.

  • Employee Relations: Serve as a primary point of contact for employee relations issues, proactively addressing concerns, and promoting a positive workplace culture.

  • Culture Transformation: Contribute to the transformation of our workplace culture, supporting an inclusive, diverse, and engaging environment.

  • Progressive Disciplinary Actions: Provide expertise in implementing progressive disciplinary actions, ensuring consistency and legal compliance.

  • Attending meetings with Hiring Managers and Human Resources Business Partnerships in efforts to collaborate, strategize, and post job requisitions for new or replacement roles as needed

  • Manage and review all background checks.

  • Manage relationships with all vendors and contract negotiations.

    What Else You Should Know:

    All internal candidates must apply using their Food Bank work email within 10 business days of posting to be considered.

    KEY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • 3+ years of HR experience, including union and employee relations expertise.

  • Familiarity with a operations environment is advantageous.

  • Proficiency in HR software and ticketing systems.

  • The ability to build positive relationships with employees and managers.

  • Paycom HRIS System. Similar to other HRIS systems.

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous work experience in a non-profit environment.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).

    This position is set in an office environment (5 days a week onsite).     FINGER DEXTERITY: Requires typing on a standard computer.

    REPETITIVE MOTIONS: Frequent and regular movements using the wrists, hands, and fingers.

    AVERAGE VISUAL ABILITIES: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to view computer screens and documents.

    PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Medium to heavy work; requiring stooping and exerting up to 50 lbs. of force filing documents and binders.

    Communication and Cognitive Requirements

    REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to interpret instructions.

    MATHEMATICS ABILITY : Ability to perform basic math skills, use decimals to compute ratios and percentages, and to draw and interpret graphs.

    LANGUAGE ABILITY: Fluency in English. Demonstrated excellence in writing and editing.

    SALARY The position is full-time. The starting salary for this position ranges from $85-95k annually, with exact salary depending on experience.
