Girl Scouts San Diego Volunteer Learning Specialist in San Diego, California

In partnership with the Volunteer Learning Manager, the Volunteer Learning Specialist implements the strategies, tools, and processes to recruit, equip, empower and support volunteer trainers in the delivery of local and national Girl Scouts program curricula.

What You’ll Do:

  • Assist in the planning, development, facilitation, and evaluation of local and national program training and/or educational programs.

  • Support the planning and coordination of department conferences, events, and outdoor skills programs.

  • Collaborate with membership teams to ensure volunteers receive timely and relevant leadership enrichment resources.

  • Assist in developing, updating and marketing course offering calendar and online registration platform.

  • Schedule and coordinate volunteer trainers and provide resources and other training and resources as needed.

  • Partner with the marketing team to ensure course offerings are marketed through print, online, social, email and related methods.

  • Coordinate course delivery logistics, locations, delivery method, scheduling, accessibility, supplies and budgets; analyze and evaluate course effectiveness of these considerations and implement adjustments to improve trainings.

  • Build and maintain strong positive relationships.

  • Point of contact for volunteer trainer questions and support needs; point of contact for course participants as well.

  • Assist in the evaluation of trainer effectiveness by attending courses and monitoring feedback; recommend corrections and recognize successes.

  • Maintain awareness of training and adult learning trends, concepts and best practices.

  • Additional assignments as required.

    What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, adult education, training and development, or a related field, or equivalent education and work experience.

  • At least two years’ experience in developing, implementing or facilitating training programs or curricula highly desired.

  • Ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and work with frequent interruptions under changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.

  • Goal-oriented, results driven, motivated with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with staff, trainers and volunteers.

  • Experience with techniques to develop and execute volunteer training recruitment strategies to meet course offering goals.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in person, on the phone and in writing, and present information in a clear, concise and engaging manner.

  • Solid project and time management skills, with the ability to work well under pressure, manage and establish and maintain priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) experience with project management software is desired.

  • Regular in attendance, able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.

  • Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and access to reliable transportation. Occasional travel will be required.

  • Belief in the mission and values of Girl Scouting; be willing to subscribe to the principles expressed in the Promise and Law and GSSD mission, vision, and values.
