The position of Senior Manager Design Transfer, Tech Support and Process is within our Cardiometabolic business unit located at the Abbott Center of Excellence in Carlsbad, California . As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will work to build and lead a product transition team that is responsible for working to shape, improve, and guide the transfer of new Reagent products from R&D and/or current TPM into the Carlsbad GMP manufacturing environment as well as the improvement and scaling activities of current Reagent products. Towards this, the work involves guidance and direction on best practices for Process Design and Development and the application of such to the Transfer and Production methods used. In addition, the role has responsibility for coordination and leadership of Technical Product Support activities related to new and existing Reagent products, management of aspects of equipment and facilities Validation activities, and management and coordination of our site Project Management activities.

What You’ll Work On

  • Ensure smooth, seamless launch of new Reagents, Reagent components, updated methods and/or production scales.

  • Accountable for managing resources (direct and matrix) assigned to projects. Includes mentoring and providing feedback to team members.

  • Requires interaction across multiple divisions, functions and levels of management, including at the VP level.

  • Understands and is aware of the quality consequences which may occur from the improper performance of their specific job; has awareness of reagent characteristics, specifications, and conditions that may occur and influence reagent design, verification and validation, and manufacturing/testing activities.

  • Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal/external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company’s policies and practices; build productive internal/external working relationships.

  • Carries out duties in compliance with established business policies.

  • Position is accountable for meeting launch goals and timelines.

  • Involves close collaboration with in-house and/or contract manufacturers/suppliers.

  • Accountable for ensuring in-house and/or contract manufacturer/supplier is set up and capable of producing high quality instrumentation and meeting launch ramp.

  • Team responsibilities also include oversight of a contract manufacturer in translating Abbott’s drawings, specs, manufacturing instructions, tests, and quality requirements during product development.

  • Responsible for effective communication between in-house and/or contract manufacturers/suppliers and other functional groups Key interface with in-house and/or contract manufactures/suppliers during development and design transfer.

  • Other duties as assigned, according to the changing needs of the business.

Required Qualifications

  • PHD in chemical engineering or biological sciences

  • 5+ years in a Process Engineering role, 2+ years in Transfer project management and experience with transfer of Biologics and/or related Reagents

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP Certification, Experience with a Technical Support team

The base pay for this position is $144,100.00 – $288,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
