The IT AI Architect, Principal will be at the forefront of our AI strategy, designing and implementing advanced AI solutions to solve complex business challenges supporting multiple enterprise functions. This role involves a blend of technical expertise, leadership, and strategic planning, ensuring that our AI projects are executed successfully and align with our long-term objectives.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 8+ years of IT-specific work experience with a Bachelor's degree.

OR

10+ years of IT-specific work experience without a Bachelor’s degree.

• Lead the design and implementation of scalable AI systems, ensuring they meet business requirements and are delivered on time and within budget.

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to AI team members, fostering an environment of continuous learning and innovation.

• Hands-on rapid prototyping to develop proof of value

• Collaborate and lead cross-functional teams, including data scientists, engineers and business leads to develop value creating AI solutions

• Stay abreast of the latest AI research and technologies, evaluating and adopting them to maintain our competitive edge.

• Develop and maintain an AI roadmap, aligning with the company's strategic goals and industry trends.

• Ensure AI systems are designed with ethics, data privacy, and security best practices in mind.

• Communicate complex AI concepts to non-technical stakeholders, facilitating informed decision-making across the organization.

Ideal candidate will have:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and 8+ years of Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in AI/ML technologies, with at least 5 years in a leadership or architectural role.

• Proven track record of designing and deploying scalable AI solutions in a production environment.

• Deep understanding of AI/ML algorithms, data structures, and software engineering principles.

• Expert with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and AI/ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).

• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and guide teams towards achieving their highest potential.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to a variety of audiences.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or related field.

• Experience building, fine tuning and deploying Large language models (LLMs), custom text embeddings, image generation, CNNs, Vision Transformers and multi-modal models.

• Experience supporting semiconductor manufacturing and yield management

• Cloud Certified – Azure/AWS/GCP

• SAFe Agile Certified

• Strong debugging and analysis skills, for root causing complex issues

• Experience developing embedded software, preferably on-device ML

• Experience working within large global matrix organizations

Pay range:

$138,500.00 - $207,500.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
