Rescue Agency Freelance UX/UI Designer (Remote) in San Diego, California

The Company Rescue is a full-service marketing agency with a mission to make healthy behaviors easier and more appealing. Since our founding in 2001, Rescue has been exclusively focused on researching, developing, and implementing positive social change campaigns in public health. We provide research, strategy, creative, production, web, traditional media, social media, policy change, youth engagement and experiential marketing services to government, non-profit, and healthcare clients in over 35 states and provinces, as well as to federal government agencies.

Rescues health behavior change marketing campaigns focus on topics such as tobacco, obesity, substance and alcohol prevention; the promotion of exercise, eating healthy foods, early childhood development, and after school programs; and other topics that promote healthy living. Rescues behavior change campaigns focus on diverse populations within teen (13 - 17), young adult (18 - 26), and adult (18+) populations in both rural and urban areas, resulting in a wide variety of campaign styles and strategies.

The Job We are seeking a high-performing, proactive, and solution-oriented Freelance UX/UI Designer to support our Experience Design team. The perfect candidate will be responsible for creating user-friendly designs, interfaces, and experiences that enable users to interact with a product or service. This includes building robust design systems, producing wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes as well as accessibility testing to ensure successful outcomes.

Day-To-Day Activities:

  • Assists with building and maintaining brand-specific design systems and design tokens in Figma;
  • Collaborates with Director of Experience Design, UX/UI Designers, UX Content Writers, Art Directors, Project Managers, Developers, and other stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes;
  • Designs concept-driven user interfaces and experiences for web and mobile applications, while ensuring accessibility standards and best practices are met;
  • Assists with the creation of high-quality user interfaces and experiences through wireframes, storyboards, user flows, and sitemaps;
  • Collaborates with team members to implement creative UI concepts and digital design principles that align with Web Strategy and UX, resulting in action-oriented, user-friendly websites and experiences;
  • Collaborates and assists other UX/UI Designers in expanding our global Design Library;
  • Assists with building and maintaining brand-specific design systems and design tokens.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED + 3 years relevant experience;
  • Expert knowledge of Figma;
  • Working knowledge of styles, components, and auto layout;
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite;
  • Portfolio of professional UX/UI design work for both web and mobile platforms; including Design Systems;
  • A detail-oriented eye for craft and pixel-perfect design;
  • Understanding of the digital concepting process;
  • Basic knowledge of accessibility;
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a high-volume workload.

Location:This position is fully remote in the US but will be required to align working hours to PST. Rescue is a remote work friendly employer. Physical Requirements: Able to remain in a sitting position for prolonged periods of time and stoop, bend, reach, climb stairs, and move freely throughout the building for the performance of duties. Able to read from a computer or laptop monitor for several hours at a time including fonts of various sizes from a variety of sources. Able to travel nationwide as needed to meet with clients, coworkers, or attend meetings and seminars.
