Lifestream Facility Maintenance Technician (20861) in San Bernardino, California

POSITION SUMMARY Provides general assistance to the Director, Plant Operations and Facility Maintenance Technician II. Assists in carrying out responsibilities for performing general tasks and up-keep of the organizations facilities, grounds, equipment, and vehicles. Assures that the facilities and vehicles are well maintained, clean, and supplied with the needed safety equipment. Under minimal supervision, may be responsible for general work orders including lighting, painting, basic carpentry, office moves, blood drives, vehicle repairs, conference room set-ups, employee events, monthly safety inspections including fire extinguishers and eyewash stations. Ensures the interior, exterior, and grounds at LifeStream are clean and maintained. Assures compliance to all safety regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Oversees interior and exterior detail of all fleet vehicles at each LifeStream location. This includes automobiles, box trucks, trailers, and buses. 2. Performs duties that assure all interior, exterior, and grounds areas are maintained in a clean and presentable condition at all locations. 3. Performs office light bulb changes. 4. Performs interior and exterior painting. 5. Performs basic carpentry work. 6. Performs office and facility rearrangements as required. 7. Assists with the preparation, set-up, and take-down of any blood drives or other LifeStream events. 8. Performs conference room set-up, take-down, and general clean-up for meetings and events. 9. Performs monthly safety inspections on fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, and other equipment as required. 10. Performs Plant Operations MDM PMs on refrigerators and freezers as assigned by the equipment management program. 11. Provides excellent customer service to all employees, vendors, and donors. 12. Assists during facility emergency situations as required. 13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Takes responsibility for problems and maintains a helpful and friendly attitude, and is responsive to customer needs. Represents the organization to vendors and the public in a positive and professional light.

COMPLEXITY Work involves mostly duties that involve related steps, processes, or methods, requiring the employee to make choices and recognize differences in a few easily recognizable situations, such as differences in fact, sources of information, or kinds of transactions or entries. Occasionally, work includes various duties involving different and unrelated processes and methods. Decisions on what needs to be done require analysis of the subject in each assignment, and chosen courses of action may be selected from several alternatives. Work involves conditions and elements that must be analyzed to identify interrelationships.

NATURE AND EXTENT OF SUPERVISION PROVIDED TO THE POSITION The supervisor makes assignments by defining objectives, priorities and deadlines, assisting the employee with unusual situations with no clear precedents. Employee plans and executes steps to complete the assignment, following instructions, policies, and previous training or accepted practices. Completed work is evaluated for soundness, appropriateness, and conformity to policy. Methods used by the employee are not reviewed in detail. Occasionally, the supervisor sets overall objectives and resources available, with deadlines and work plans developed in consultation with the employee, with some opportunity for the employee to interpret policy, or determine approaches and methodology for accomplishing assignments.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, each essential duty (as identified above) must be performed satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability r quired.

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES 1. Knowledge of interior and exterior detailing. 2. Ability to perform maintenance, painting, and repairs on interior, exterior, and grounds areas at all LifeStream locations. 3. Ability and willingness to be trained in other aspects of facility maintenance. 4. Knowledge and ability to perform office lighting changes. 5. Knowledge and ability to perform interior and exterior painting. 6. Knowledge and ability to perform basic carpentry work. 7. Ability to perform office and facility rearrangements as required. 8. Ability to assist with the preparation, set-up, and take-down of any blood drives or other LifeStream events. 9. Ability to assist with conference room set ups, take-down, and general clean-up for meetings and company events. 10. Knowledge and ability to perform monthly safety inspections on fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, and other equipment as required. 11. Good recordkeeping and documentation skills. 12. Basic Computers Skills 13. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

EDUCATION High School Diploma or GED. EXPERIENCE Qualifications at the apprentice level with minimum one year of experience relating to auto detailing and basic facility maintenance. Experience with basic lighting, general carpentry, painting, general automotive repair and washing, safety inspections, and other basic mechanical equipment skills is highly desirable.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, ETC. Valid California Drivers License.
