Job Description:

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Resolves a full range of electrical issues on plant manufacturing equipment; recommends best solutions to fix or mitigate issues.

  • Provides technical assistanceand training to the maintenance team.

  • Provides electrical engineering expertise and training to maintenance team.

  • Provides technical guidance and training on electrical safe work practices.

  • Develops, plans, executes, and supports enhancements and continued development of plant automation systems.

  • Recommends, plans, and implements capital projects and upgrades to new and existing systems, including installations and testing.

  • Supports the development of line operators training, as needed.

  • Develop preventative and predictive maintenance programs that use root cause analysis to eliminate or reduce downtime.

  • Collaborate with a variety of maintenance stakeholders to ensure that equipment is operating at peak performance.

  • Conduct quality inspections on work order repairs and preventative maintenance performed by maintenance technicians.

  • Communicate and coordinate maintenance activities with production and engineering.

  • Respond to operational and equipment emergencies, unanticipated problems, and repairs.

  • Develop resource-savings maintenance strategies.

  • Conduct real-time monitoring to ascertain the health and functionality of assets.

  • Follow all health and safety policies and procedures and safety standards.

  • Troubleshoot breakdown issues and analyze failures to determine root cause.

  • Verify that equipment is operating properly.

Knowledge and Critical Skill Requirements:

  • 5+ years of electrical engineering experience in manufacturing plant environments (for Plant Electrical)

  • Electrical or Mechanical Engineering BS/BA Degree required

  • Self-directed with the ability to work independently

  • Ability to effectively plan, organize and prioritize work

  • Experience in general food or manufacturing industry

  • Proficient in English verbal and written communication

  • Ability to obtain certification in the safe use of Forklift 

  • Must work well in a team-based environment

  • Must comply with all HACCP, GMPs and housekeeping requirements

  • Leads with safe behaviors, and personal accountability for quality of work and attendance

  • Extensive experience troubleshooting VFDs, DC drives, PLC systems, networking hardware, and computers.

  • Knowledge in industrial instrumentation (flow, level, temp, pressure,) configuration, spanning, and setup, calibration, and best installation practices.

  • Experience with the tools/software used to manage the technologies associated with control systems such as PLC s, variable frequency drives and interfaces, PID loops.

  • Good analytical problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail.

  • Ability to multi-task, adjust to changing priorities and complete tasks within timelines.

  • Keep current with new skills and emerging technologies as pertains to control systems.

  • Experienced in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

  • Ability to read electrical prints.

  • Experienced in AutoCAD.

  • Effective interpersonal and leadership skills.

  • Good analytical problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Will walk/stand for the duration of an 8-12-hour shift and be able to use both hands, twist, bend, stoop, reach and maneuver in tight or cramped areas

  • Will climb stairs, ladders, equipment scaffolding, tanks and heights up to 50 feet

  • Will be required to work on machine platforms with a graded floor

  • Will push/pull/lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds

  • Will use one or both hands to hold, grip, and use tools required for duties, including but not limited to a utility knife

  • Will hear and talk on an ongoing basis in an atmosphere of moderate and loud noise

  • Will work in and around cold water or hot water up to 185° F

  • Will work in cold, warm, hot, humid and/or wet conditions

Protective Equipment:

Within the work environment, the employee’s physical condition must be such that the employee can wear:

  • Hearing protection

  • Head protection

  • Steel-toe slip resistant footwear

  • Eye protection when required

  • Hand protection when required
