Actalent Controls Engineer in Saint Louis, Missouri

OEM support partner that works in the hydraulic, pneumatic and electro-mechanical industry. Their applications span a variety of industries from Food & Bev, Automotive, Oil and Gas, Aerospace, Consumer Product, etc.

Description:

It is the controls engineers role to analyze and understand the customers needs and design control system functionality to optimize the customers process and provide solutions. This individual will also be expected to work independently and be a technical problem solver. They will be a key part of delivering outstanding service and providing unique customer solutions. Controls Engineer is responsible for managing projects as well as the primary technical experience around PLC programming when it comes to their projects.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Meet with customers to analyze and understand customer requirements for control system.

Analyze design requirements to understand how to fit customer process requirements, recommend methods to achieve design requirements.

Design control system functionality to address or improve the customer process.

Determine preliminary design and record in the Project Overview Scope documentation, review with engineering manager and sales and get signoff from customer prior to accepting PO.

Create final quote documentation for every assigned project opportunity.

Specify hardware and software system components that will support the recommended system.

Responsible for creating and obtaining approval of wiring schematics and control panel layouts.

Create a bill of materials.

Design human-machine interfaces (HMI).

Conceive programmable logic controller (PLC) ladder and other source codes such as Visual Basic or other language.

Write PLC/human-machine interface and other source code.

Simulate and debug written code.

Start up and debug code and system functionality at customers’ facilities.

Prepare as-built documents for distribution to customer’s engineering staff.

Mentor junior level engineering staff.
