Corewell Health RN Neuro Progressive Care pathway to Intensive Care in Royal Oak, Michigan
New Grads are Welcome!
Candidate will be hired on pathway to transfer to specialty ICU after 16 months on progressive care unit.
Advanced skills and performance standards must be maintained to facilitate transfer to ICU at 16-month point.
Regular meetings with educator/manager on unit will occur to promote critical thinking and development of skills needed to be successful in the critical care setting.
About the Unit
8 South Neuro is a 52-bed progressive/medical surgical, comprehensive Stroke certified unit that offers a solid foundation in nursing for new grads. The unit has a focus on acute strokes, neurosurgical interventions, such as craniotomies, spine procedures and VP shunts. In addition, a 4-bed epilepsy monitoring unit. The unit is fast-paced and offers many learning opportunities.
Specific must-haves for new hires/transfers: Teamwork and staff encouragement, professionalism and displaying integrity and respect; positive and eager to learn; highly organized and flexible; effective communication with patients, families and coworkers.

GENERAL SUMMARY:
As a Registered Nurse, under the ANA scope of practice, you will utilize the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles. The Registered Nurse provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Beaumont policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS
Associates in Nursing Required
Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years
Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required
AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Required within 6 months
Certification, Licensure, Registration: RN with active license in State of Michigan; Graduate Nurses have 60 days from date of hire to take the NCLEX-RN.
ACLS within 6 months of hire/transfer.
